Glade we got a official date for Forbidden west but sucks it got delayed but everything has the last like 18 months. just tired of hearing that word delayed. The word delay is like giving me PTSD lol. Hopefully no more delays. Feb 18th 2022 is the date.

Is there current guess on VRR support for PS5 still looking at December?

I've been jealous of the folks running Madden on Series X who are able to 'unlock' the FPS via VRR and achieve 120 (or close) FPS during gameplay. That plus Dolby Vision sounds awfully nice..

I don’t think Dolby Vision is ever coming to Sony games on the ps5, but I could’ve be wrong.

Yeah, it was initially reported that DV was Xbox Exclusive for 2 years, then everyone said the blog that stated as much was in error and both Microsoft and Dolby cleared that up.

So it's up to Sony to license it, if they haven't now I'm not sure why they suddenly would.

Seems those of us who have managed to get a PS5 to day may have ended up with the better console compared to this new revision if these impressions are to be believed.

So I got my hands on one of the updated CFI-1100B model PS5s. Full video (https://youtu.be/taKKVBVoKhg) just went live but…

�� Rear exhaust temps are 3-5C higher
⚖️ Weighs 0.3 KG or 0.6 LBS less
�� Heatsink is SIGNIFICANTLY smaller
�� Has a slightly redesigned fan
�� Upgraded stand

Essentially the updated PS5s that are rolling out right now are cheaper to produce with MUCH less cooling capability.

There are smaller internal changes with the Wi-Fi card and antennas but…as of right now the launch PS5 seems like the better console.

Not sure if this is the right place, but anyone else experiencing lag when playing online? Not sure if I’m having controller drift or input lag, but at times, playing Fortnite and Warzone online is really a pain. Sometimes I’ll tap my right stick to the left, and it will seem as if I held it to the left. Or I’ll press X to jump, and nothing happens right away. Only happens when playing online. I have a wired connection and get 700-800mbps down and between 10-15mbps up. Any tips or suggestions?

Not sure Sony really "needs" an event this year. They could do more State of Plays, but as far as big events, not sure it's really needed. We know what we need from upcoming games like Kena and Deathloop and we have the release dates for delayed games like HFW and Sifu. So unless they have other games they have a stronger feeling that are releasing within next 14 months, I don't really need to see games that are 2023 and beyond.

I do wonder if about that short lived rumor about a higher tier PlayStation Plus sub that includes Funimation and/or Crunchyroll. As an primarily offline gamer, this was the first time I had PlayStation Plus. The PlayStation Plus Collection alone made it worth it. And I know for a lot of games, you almost need it for certain modes. But, I wouldn't mind paying a little for so I can get Funimation and Crunchyroll. I haven't gotten much from PlayStation Plus. I haven't really bought games from the PlayStation store. There hasn't been a game I have been interested in on PS Plus games since Tomb Raider in January(though I added a couple since to my library). I do wonder if they are going to cycle in a new PS Plus Collection. They could keep the current games, but it would be nice to see them add up to 5 or so more premier PS4 titles.

Glad I got a launch PS5. I don’t understand what they were thinking removing a lot of the cooling and making it run hotter now with the new version. 8-9 degrees hotter doesn’t seem like much now but I wonder the long haul and, I wonder how it’ll hold up when put inside media cabinets.

Yeah me too. Tom's Hardware says that Sony cut corners because they were selling the PS5 at a loss. To be fair, Sony has had a pretty solid reputation for hardware reliability. So even though they cut corners, they did testing to figure out if it will cause problems down the road. Sony just like Microsoft makes their money from selling games not consoles and having PS5's failing because they cut corners would be a bad look for them. So I'm glad I have the launch unit. but I. wouldn't worry if I bought the updated model.

Maybe Sony just over engineered the original PS5 and now that it’s been out in the real world for a bit they realized they don’t need as big of a heatsink since boost isn’t controlled by temperature. I read somewhere the Series X is already 10c hotter than the PS5 so maybe it’s not the end of the world.

It's interesting they are calling it a showcase instead of a state of play wonder if that means we will get more big things shown. I think we will get either gameplay or at least a real trailer for GOW being we only have a logo right now. Hopefully we get a spiderman 2 teaser.

This feels like a kneejerk reaction to save margin when that isn't the root cause for lost revenue/profit. It seems to me that if Sony could simply produce more PS5s, they'd be fine.

I'd buy one now if I could actually go to a local store and get it. I'm not paying $1K and I'm not going to go thru some hassle like others where I HOPE I get it and it get cancelled later.

Sony has tampered expectations with the last several State of Plays. But for them to only say don't expect PSVR 2, then I expect a big show. But with just 40 minutes, I don't know that you're going to see many trailers. You have to expect a few indies. I don't expect much live gameplay. Maybe around 7-10 games

I don't expect Spider-Man 2 info until probably a year from now. I do expect GOW. I don't think we need to see anything from Horizon Forbidden West in this event, that could be in a State of Play in December or January. Maybe GT7, but not sure on that either. Like I said, I fully expect GTA V re-remaster. Probably might announce the Blue Point acquisition.
