Looks like Sifu is coming to Plus Essential next month. One of the better offerings they’ve had in a while.

I should know, I bought it a few weeks back 🫠

Still seeing the speculations of PS5 Pro coming out later this year. I don't see the logic behind that. They're just getting out of the console scarcity and released the PS5 slim late last year. And it's not likely they have a marquee first party game new game to pair it with. We haven't seen too many games so far this generation that really pushed the limit of what these consoles can handle. Especially, if the main benefit of a PS5 Pro is increased performance and storage. Storage isn't a concern for me. Increased performance is cool, but that's up to the developer to optimize it. For me, I don't think it's worth it for essentially another visual option. At best what, native 4k60 with RT. That isn't worth it for me

100%. I see zero reason for a Pro right now. I really can't believe anything has pushed the absolute limits of the PS5 yet. I know GTA 6 will absolutely do so, but I won't upgrade to a Pro for one single game.

GTA 6 was the first game to come into mind as well. Just guessing, I think the next major Sony first party game is Wolverine. Part of the reason we haven't seen the limits of the current PS5/XSX is that we are still in the cross gen phase. We're just now starting to see games leave last gen behind. There's obviously some great current gen only games like Ratchet and Clank, Spider-Man 2, Demon Souls, Alan Wake 2(for me is the best Visuals so far this gen). But, it's not like we're going to see games made for the PS5 Pro and scaled back for PS5. It's going to be made for the PS5 and scaled up. Like I said, best case is native 4k60 with improved RT. So most likely, it'll just be the same graphical options, just improved. Is that really worth it as an upgrade, especially if there isn't a game to pair it with?. Even then, you're dependent on game developers to optimize it.

If I could go back and not get the PS5 at launch, I would. I don't regret it and I have enjoyed it. But, having a toddler the time, I never had ample time to play it. Plus, most of the games I could have waited to play. That would've been a reason for me to get the PS5 Pro. I don't see myself getting the Pro

I think there are probably enough PS5 users who have arrived at the point where they strongly prefer a 60fps experience. That’s becoming a more and more difficult target for developers to hit, without sometimes making some less than attractive tradeoffs, and that’s only going to happen more and more in the second half of this generation.

I bet it sells enough to be worth the effort from Sony’s perspective. There are the people that will buy anything new, and my guess is there are more people now, than compared to the PS4 Pro release, that are interested in a better looking and actually stable performance mode.

I don’t think it’ll make much of a difference to the experience on the base console, it didn’t last gen, but it’s cool for those that will inevitably be interested.

I mean, I would say I got a little spoiled with the 60fps experience. When I'm given the option, I always choose the performance option. Only game that I chose the fidelity option was Spider-Man 2 because the VRR option at 40FPS, wasn't a huge drop off in performance. I say I got spoiled with it because there are games I can't go back to because it's 30FPS. I really wanted to replay Batman Arkham City, but I couldn't because it felt very stiff. Especially, compared to Spider-Man 2 which has a similar combat system. Also a game like Mafia the Definitive edition, I couldn't get into because of performance.

I won't say it's a 100% no, I just want to be swayed enough to do so. I got the PS4 Pro as a gift from my wife. It didn't feel like a massive upgrade, but it was a good situation since my base PS4 was having issues. I got my PS5 off of selling my PS4 Pro, Nintendo 3DS and other stuff. That's how I would would do if I wanted to get the Pro. I would sell my PS5 and a couple of things, that I'm only really paying under $100 at most for the upgrade.

I would have to see 3rd party devs push to optimize games to take advantage of the Pro, especially if there isn't a mid-gen refresh for the Series consoles. And I would want it to be a good 4-5 years before the PS6 as well. I just say for me, is 4k60 with full RT really worth the upgrade when I'm satisfied with the current Performance mode set ups.

The sky is still the limit as far as RT goes for console. The implementation on console so far is as light as possible, and I would say it’s not a good example of where RT has to be to really turn your head.

Playing games like Cyberpunk or Alan Wake 2 on a good PC right now is a revelation. Unfortunately, I don’t think the specs rumored for PS5 Pro are going to be enough to get there at 60fps. Though maybe there will be some good RT experiences to be had at 30/40fps.

I dunno… probably not going to see a true coming out party for RT until the PS6 gen.

I think for people who are sensitive to some of the aggressive upscaling thats going on with newer games, as well as all the games that struggle with holding a stable 60, a pro console is going to take you back to the early days of this gen where rock solid performance modes were a relative breeze for developers to hit.

That's not exactly a knockout sales pitch, lol, but my guess is that there is a decent sized audience that will be just interested enough to bite. And I also think the possibility of it being the only way to play GTA6 at 60fps could potentially be a massive wild card.

I'm definitely upgrading to a pro when it releases. I'm running out of space and I'm not gonna disassemble it and **** something up. I do hope they add full backwards compatibility with PS2 and hopefully PS3 if they can figure those issues out but I doubt it.

They aren't gonna add full backwards compatibility with a console upgrade, I'm afraid. For whatever reason, PS3 games can only be streamed and not downloaded. Playstation 6 might be the one that has full last gen games.

Take this with a big grain of salt, but a fairly well known leaker, Moore’s law is dead, has said he heard directly from people at Sony that they have PS3 emulation working fairly well, broadly speaking.

The problem is that because of the cell architecture, different developers would utilize the hardware in wildly different configurations. I’m simplifying what he said greatly, but the crux of the problem is that so many games would need their own specific emulation optimization, so to speak, and that extra work is apparently not something Sony is currently interested in pursuing.
