Gamestop has trade in values for the OG PS5 at $350 and $385 for pro members. These values better hold up until November.Comment

Heck, I can see getting the Disc Drives being hard to get as well. In theory, I wouldn't want to buy the Drive until I secured a preorder. I can see scenarios where the drives out already out of stock.Comment

Re: PlayStation 5
More interesting spec news for the newly announced PRO has it upgrading to WiFi 7.
With the PS5 already supporting WiFi 6 for a number of years, it makes sense that for PS5 Pro Sony would want to include the newly minted WiFi 7 standard which provides greatly improved wireless connectivity and speeds – and they have. Even with that however, don’t expect your trusty old Ethernet port to go anywhere in the new console as many folks still use wired connections instead of wireless.

Re: PlayStation 5
I may buy a second PS5 at some point, but I see absolutely no need to blow money on a Pro whose capabilities will likely rarely, if ever, be utilized.
Just my opinion, but this is for people who just have to have the latest thing.

Re: PlayStation 5
Why is everyone so up in rage for a PREMIUM OPTION lol. I'ts not a necessity. If this don't meet your needs then stick with the vanilla PS5. I wish we could get option from the beginning of the cycle honestlyYoutube- https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1Y...YHoeFjXQJ2Ps4g

Re: PlayStation 5
When It comes to previous PS5 and PS4 games, it's all to developer's discretion. Previous PS5 games, will likely see patches. But when it comes to PS4 games, it's all up to the developer. A lot of those PS4 didn't even see patches for the base PS5. I remember very early in the PS5 cycle, The Shadow of the Tomb Raider received the patch that added a 60fps mode with updated visuals. It made a big difference. They released it with very little pub. Unless, you followed someone in the know, you likely never would've found out about it. Most publishers weren't going to do that for PS4 games, where they aren't getting any marketing or money out of it. Unless the PSSR can work automatically as far as improving picture quality on PS4, I'm not sure how many past PS4 titles receive a PS5 Pro patch.
I do think if Xbox would've released a Mid Gen console as they were rumored too, the PS5 Pro would've been more competitively priced. And I do think this is a "test the market" experiment to see how the masses react to a $700 disc-less console. It is what it is as far as price for PS6, but I hope we're not heading towards a disc-free future of gaming. With this being digital and the XSX 2TB being digital, it seems like they want to phase towards all digital.Comment

Re: PlayStation 5
Claiming the product is "premium" and not actually delivering that value proposition to consumers is what I think most people are annoyed with.
If you think it's a premium product worth the cost, great. I don't.

Actually, the first thing a gamer will have is no longer deciding between performance and graphics where currently you have too on base model. Now, you'll get both worlds.Comment

Re: PlayStation 5
For me at least, the irritation stems from the fact that for a "premium option" it isn't all that premium. Personally I think the "graphical upgrades" they are claiming, combined with not including a disc drive option out of the box (or a stand) for $700 is not worth the money.

I guess lol. People pay 1000-1500 for laptops and phone etc.. 4090 is $1500 by itself back 2 years ago. $700 for an upgrade is not the end of the world. It’s today’s prices. Everything is more expensive and this just an option that’s not need to play PS5 games people can simply move on.Youtube- https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1Y...YHoeFjXQJ2Ps4g

Dude (No thanks for that A$$ Whooping Monday Night) this is a powerful machine.
For Tech nerds here's Jeremy Laird's (PC Gamer) take on the system. We still don't have the machine so they're not going to finalize their comparisons but it's a good read within the pc world.
So, yeah, those CPU cores. The PS5 Pro really is mostly a graphics upgrade. It has the same eight Zen 2-spec CPU cores as the original PS5 running at the same 3.5 GHz.
Now Zen 2 isn't exactly a dud CPU architecture. But over in the PC, we're fully three generations ahead on Zen 5 and with clockspeeds well over 5 GHz. Of course, you're not going to be building a brand new PC with a top-spec Ryzen 9000 chip with Zen 5 cores, plus a good GPU and all the other bits, for $700.
Admittedly, the PC can be had with PCIe 5 for double the bandwidth. But even as PC fans, we're not going to claim that's a huge real-world advantage for gaming. And you're not likely to get a Gen 5 SSD with an entry-level to mid-range PC. All of which means that SSDs and storage generally are a bit of a moot point in this comparison. Neither platform has a killer advantage.
At the top level, the PS5 Pro still has a price advantage, even at $700. That price point just doesn't buy a huge amount of gaming PC. Drilling down into the details, however, is a little tricky.
Unfortunately, we don't have our hands on the PS5 hardware, so precise comparisons of performance and therefore what you're getting for your money aren't possible. Even if we did, comparing a game running on PC to ostensibly the same title on console isn't straight forward. You can't ensure you're running exactly the same settings and quality, the codepaths typically aren't identical.
But with all those caveats aside, the PS5 Pro's potential frame rate performance will likely come in somewhere between the RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT in terms of relative PC GPUs. And likely closer to the former. At first glance, that looks like game over for the PC. After all, you ain't buying a pre-built gaming rig with a RX 7800 XT for $700.
In fact, the cheapest currently available on NewEgg is $1,150. Downgrade to the 7700 XT and you're looking at a touch over $1,000. Over on the Nvidia side of the PC fence, an RTX 4060 Ti box can be had for just under $1,000, but will almost certainly be a fair bit slower than the PS5 Pro in terms of pure raster performance.

Re: PlayStation 5
Here's a very good breakdown and well explained video that shows that you CAN build your own PC for $700, at the end of the video he demonstrates the different settings running Cyberpunk.

Re: PlayStation 5
Lol .....love the effort he put into it. He can't really compare yet until he gets the pro. He dismisses the operating system. This is supposedly their new technology Pssr which he doesn't take into account.
However, the PC article does give a better example if you read the article.Comment
