Now, the Sony KDF50A2000 50" LCD, which is a 720p HD, looked pretty sweet at the store, but I ended up settling on the Samsung DLP 50" and am loving it so far. There wasn't much of a difference between the Sony and Samsung from what I could tell. That Sony looks like a great tv though, Heel, but it was a little more than I was willing to spend. You might be a different story though.
yeah, it's $1,800 right now but HHGregg is having a 20% off sale on WEd so it will be a little under $1500............Which Samsung model # did you go with ?

      HLS5086W. It's Samsung's 720p DLP model.

Got it for about $1500 on Labor Day at HHGregg. So far no complaints. The NFL games yesterday were great to watch on it.

The HLS5087W model is Samsung's 1080p DLP tv.

Yeah, I was looking at the HLS5087W one. It's $1700 right now. I am probably going with the SOny though, but I might change my mind once I see them in person.

Mitsubishi has a 62" LCD for the same price as the 55" Sony but I am not so sure about Mitsubishi quality.

I've really had a good history with Sony products. I really let the in-store test sort it all out for me. I just liked the look of the DLP from Samsung better. Truthfully, I think I would like the Sony LCD just as much had I decided to get that instead. Either way, I don't think you can go wrong. They are both quality sets.

I'm getting that TV too. Very good honestly it's better then the Samsung 46" that's on the market. On top of that Sony included 3 HDMI ports!! While Samsung only included 2. With 3 I can have my reciever / DVD player connect to my TV, my 360 (when HDMi cables are released), and a PS3. I'm hooked for the next 3 years

Well after a week of looking, thinking, and struggling I finally bought my new tv, a 50' Samsung DLP. I had a front DLP projector with an 100' screen for about 3 years and loved it but just wanted something different I also wanted a little more light in my apartment.

It took about 3 hours to get everything setup and working and I love it.
I tested everything, ps2, xbox, gc, 360, and dvd player and everything looked great. I have regular cable and it looked descent. I am going to get an OTA antenna today to see about Local HD channels.

Have you checked how far from the broadcast towers you are? Let me know. I just bought an antenna that works great for me and I live in an area that shouldn't get HDTV and I do.

LCDs are not optimal for gaming, I would pass.

A lot of LCD's are great for gaming...Especially when you don't feel like putting a 42' plasma in your bedroom.

About that TV though..never heard of it...I would go to www.avsforum.com for impressions.

                                Hey guys,

I'm thinking about picking up an HDTV, but it would need to fit my budget which is around $500. At Target they have the Philips 30" 30PW9110D on clearance for $489.99, and I've really been thinking about picking it up. I've heard some bad things about Philips but I have a Philips widescreen tv that I've had for about 2 1/2 years and have had absolutely no problems with it. I'm thinking in my price range I'll need to CRT, but maybe you guys have some advice for me. Any help would be great. Thanks.
