What do you think about doing the circuit city coverage plan? Its 129 for 3 years, and it has in home repairs and they replace the TV if they can't fix it. Without it, its a standard 1 year warranty from vizio, but you have to pay to ship it to them.

Do you shop at Costco? They have good prices on the Vizio LCDs and they include a 2 year warranty.Comment

That's what I did. Got my Aquos from Costco with the free 2 year warranty. Then bought the 3 year extended warranty directly from Sharp. I'm covered for 5 years for barely over $200.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

Re: HDTV Questions and Answers Thread
Unfortunately, costco doesn't appear to be selling the model I'm looking for. At least according to their website.
What I think I'mg going to do is buy the extended warranty directly from Vizio, which includes in-home service. It is 99 for 3 years as opposed to 129 from circuit city.
BTW, do you need to be a member at costco? If so, how much does it cost?Last edited by ESPNdeportes; 08-24-2007, 12:39 PM."You can not ensure success, but you can deserve it." - John Quincy Adams

Just dropping in to say that Bikini Destinations on HDNet is the best programming HD has to offer so far, and that in and of itself justifies the purchase of an HDTV and HD equipment.Comment

Re: HDTV Questions and Answers Thread
Not official, but here's something
DIRECTV: 20-40 New HD Channels Likely By Sept. 16
The satcaster should have 70 new HD channels by the end of September.
By Swanni
Washington, D.C. (August 29, 2007) -- Continued from Part One of this article.
After the first rollout, DIRECTV will add another group of channels soon thereafter and then another group until it reaches the 70 mark by the end of September. The satcaster now has approximately 10 national high-def channels.
In other remarks:
* Shanks said the new high-def channels will retain their current standard definition channel numbers. For instance, CNN HD will be channel 202, the same as the standard-def CNN.
The satcaster's HD receiver will automatically default to the HD channel when a high-def viewer turns to that channel. However, the standard-def channel will remain and can still be watched by going up or down the dial.
"We don't want people to have to learn new channel numbers," Shanks said.
HD DVR owners who have set those standard-def channels to record future programs will have to manually re-set the recording to HD if they want to watch the high-def version of the program.
* The new HDTV channels will be on DIRECTV's new satellite, launched in July, and will transmit in MPEG4. However, the NFL Sunday Ticket's lineup of HDTV games will remain on DIRECTV's current satellites and will transmit in MPEG2.
But Shanks said DIRECTV will not need to drop an existing HDTV channel from the lineup to make room for the high-def games each Sunday, as it did last year.
"We will do some shuffling to make room, but there will be no dropping of HD channels like last year," he said.
* DIRECTV's existing lineup of HDTV channels will remain in the channel 70s and will stay for now on the current satellites, which transmit in MPEG2.Comment

And to think, I was excited to see my cable provider add ESPN2HD and ESPNU this weekend. Now I'm thinking about DirecTV again. I've been on the verge of getting it for months now.Comment

Re: HDTV Questions and Answers Thread
it is tempting....though my cable provider added A&EHD recently, and a NFL Network HD channel, so I'm hoping they keep adding more to compete. Would just be a major pain to change, you know?Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: HDTV Questions and Answers Thread
Hey guys,
A personal query in relation to my situation.
Buying my first HDTV. Looking at picking this LCD up for my 360. See it advertised for around $2,400 AUS (without screwing them down, lol).
I want a 40 inch. It's for my bedroom. Viewing distance is 2-3 metres and I only want it to be 720p because I don't think 1080p is really worth it at the moment and I'll buy a good 1080p later on.
Ideally would like to spend around $2000-$2500 AUS. Is this a good one to go with or should I look at another? Also remember that I live in Australia so we may not have the latest releases or even be getting later models down here.
Thanks guys.Comment

I hear a 50 inch Plasma could be a better choice given it'd be a similar price and some people recommend Plasma over LCD anyway so I guess I'd look at that also if there are any 50 inch Plasma recommendations.Hey guys,

Re: HDTV Questions and Answers Thread
So they're going to add a bunch on September 16th, then every so often after that until the end of September when they're supposed to have 70 total?
Very nice.Comment
