Last night my HDTV screwed up for the 500th time.

The TV flickered on and off rapidly for about 30 seconds before I shut it off. I turned it on again and the picture went crazy. The picture now has a red tint all around it, as well as the picture has been doubled. When there is a person on screen, you see two of them. The color of the picture is horrible now, with all the red and doubled people all over the place.

      Any ideas?

Hey guys I'm pretty new to this so maybe you guys can help me out. What is the difference between and HDTV and HDTV Ready? Also does it even matter if I'm just going to play my 360 on it?

          1. The first has a built-in tuner so that you can receive over the air HD broadcasts, the second does not.
          2. No difference at all.

            Hello.

I am going tomorrow to pick up my 26" Vizio LCD and I was wondering if there was anything else that I need for me to get the HD quality when playing my Xbox 360, such as extra cables or something like that. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The VGA cable for the 360 will allow you to upconvert regular DVD's....otherwise just using component cables will be fine, it's really no big deal. I've got a 37" Vizio and love it, so nice choice.

How big of a difference is there between 1080p and 1080i?

My old HDTV(43" Hitachi, 1080i) is broke(2nd time) and costs about $500 to repair. The new Vizio I am looking at only costs $900 new, so it looks to be a better deal. However, the one I am looking at is only 1080i. I've heard 1080p is better, but is the difference really worth the extra money needed to buy one?

It's noticeable in games but not in movies. As for whether it's worth it, you really didn't state the price difference, but if it's a lot then probably not. If it's not that much then yeah, it's worth a little extra money for assurance of having this for the future.

I'm sure the difference is quite substantial...you can get 37" lcd's for 700ish, but if you want a 37" 1080p HDTV you're looking more like 1500+ I think

I'm trying to decide between to DLP TVs.

Also who here, have their Xbox360 hooked up through the PC input on a DLP TV?

                        Yeah the 42" 1080i is $897, whereas the 42" 1080p is at $1,600+.

I think I will look into that 1080i Vizio in Sam's Club.

Guys that are questioning 1080p, if you don't buy a TV 50" or larger than investing in 1080p is worthless. The reason why its better for the larger TV's is that it allows 1080 progressive to output at 1920×1080. I've had a 1080p DLP since January and while I love the TV set, the 1080p is not the huge of a difference over 1080i. I have watched BluRay and HD-DVD movies in both 1080i and 1080p, the difference isn't that mind blowing between the two.

Only reason why I went with the 1080p set is that I got a very good deal on it. If you go with anything under 50", save your money and get a good set that does both 720p and 1080i.

I have the Samsung 50" 1080p DLP and its a very nice set. You can hook up the 360 via VGA to the Sammy DLP which I've heard the pic is nice. If you have an Elite, you can also hook up the 360 via HDMI which is another option.

I strongly disagree. I have a Vizio 47' 1080p LCD. The first time I set it to 1080p and loaded up Gears of War, I was instantly amazed at the difference in picture from my old old 42' 720p LCD and the 1080p model. Gaming on any of our other HDTVs seem blocky now. My parents have a 57' 1080i Sony RPTV and even gaming on this now seems blocky compared to 1080p.

1080p does make a huge difference in games when playing on a larger screen. I would assume the difference goes down as screen size does, but many manufacturers make 42' 1080p models now.

Buying an HDTV for my kitchen... redesigning my place so looking to add some stuff.

                              Narrowed it down between:

                              http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/produ....do?oid=173635

                              http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/produ....do?oid=176850

Panasonic vs Samsung. Sam does only up to 720p, while Panasonic does all three and has a higher contrast ratio.

Should I pass on the Samsung cause it doesn't support 1080i? I might swat one of these TVS with one from my bed room so it might do some minor gaming sometime so do I need 1080i or is 720p enough.

My living room TV supports up to 1080p but I do most of my gaming at 720p and I'm fine but don't want to get owned later cause it isn't able to support 1080i.

wow, you must be doing well financially...many would consider those two tv's as their main one..i'd go with the samsung..i can't see it not supporting the 1080i signal and outputting it 720p
