I have the 37" Vizio and it's perfect for me. I don't need anything more expensive quality wise, and size wise I wouldn't want much bigger with the layout of my living room.

I'm no expert but why limit yourself to a 23" TV at that price when a little more can get you a 32" TV? Samsung has a good name in picture quality (at least in the 30" categories) although I'm not so sure about their reliability. Whenever I've bought a Samsung product in the past they have given me problems and I tend to stay away.

Any product that offers a 2 year warranty looks attractive to me. LG has some nice TVs and their panels are very good if not quite as good as the best (they are close imo). They offer a 2 year warranty and we're really happy with our 32" model.

I'm limited to that because my parents, my budget, my space, and my use of it as a second monitor (also for gaming and TV). But I agree, I would do for something bigger too.

Maybe one of you guys can help me out.

For the past few weeks when I have watched Prison Break, Bones and House on FOX, there has been this constant little buzzing static sound. It is extremely annoying and covers up some of the actors voices, as well as directs my attention away from the show itself. I was so tempted to throw the remote through the TV last night when it kept going on throughout Prison Break. And it only happens on FOX and their primetime shows.

Could it just be my FOX station screwing up? My TV? The show itself?

              Yes, no, and "maybe".

Does it happen on other FOX shows (assuming you are watching the HD FOX channel)? What about the SD version of those shows, which if the problem still exists would indicate it's your crappy FOX affiliate. Unplug and re-plug your audio inputs from both the cable box and TV, as well as your speakers...though the fact that it's ONLY FOX indicates that it's likely an external problem.

I have crappy Time Warner Cable, so I don't even get FOX HD. And yes, it only occurs on the FOX Channel.

I noticed it last week when I was watching Prison Break and House last week. Then it did the same thing last night, and throughout all of Bones tonight. Hell, as I am typing this I can hear it doing it during the commercials.

I'll unplug the cords and see if it does anything.

Edit: I was watching FOX on the family room tv, and I just got done talking to my dad who was watching FOX on his bedroom TV. He said the same thing was happening. Definitely sounds like my local FOX affiliate is the problem.

Not only do I have bad luck with my Wii console, my HDTV bad luck is legendary. My Mits DLP is now halo-ing in high contrast areas (white text on black, bright colors in the dark) and now I have to pursue yet another repair track. My XBR1 still has the pink blob (post double green blob) and Best Buy still isn't committing to a replacement.

                  So...angry...

OK, so I have a Sonicview 8000 HD and a 52" Sharp Aquos.

My problem is that when watching programs, especially HD, the letters on the side are cut off. I've tried quite a bit of stuff and stuff havent been able to get it right.

For kicks...over the last six years I've:

Had a Panasonic Tau 4:3 HD tube that had red corners, replaced, then bowing, replaced, then the thing didn't turn on. It was replaced by a...

Sony Wega XBR 4:3 tube that had bad geometry out-of-the-box, rendered worthless by the tech (paid out of pocket) and thrown in a dumpster behind a Barnes and Noble. Replaced by a...

Samsung HL-R series DLP, that was nice (first widescreen display) until the HDMI board went on the fritz. After weeks of no returned calls and no estimate on the part, a tech comes out, replaces "a" board (the component/analog board), the HDMI board is of course still broke, and then I get Best Buy to exchange the display due to the lack of an ETA on the part for a...

Sony 50" XBR1 SXRD that was GREAT for a year, then a yellow streak after a few hours popped up, then greenish tint...light engine replaced, green tint when they dropped it off, replaced again, and pink tint to this day as Best Buy won't give me a lemon swap until the third fix and the service center won't PERFORM a third fix (supposed to change the color temp for a blue picture to eliminate the problem)...

In the interim, bought a Mits DLP, the third highest rated TV over at CNET and rave reviews across the board, great for six months, and then haloes in high contrast areas (the yellow text on 'Heroes' is a nightmare, not to mention movie subtitles or credits)...

                        GRRR!

I know I gripe from time to time, and have toned it down a lot recently. I just felt the need to ***** one more time, as the fact that I'm dealing with yet another issue on a several thousand dollar purchase (compounded over the years with swaps).

I'm hoping that I won't be without my toy for a long time, but I'm not counting on it. If/when Best Buy authorizes a lemon swap for the SXRD I have no idea what I'll buy, only to hope that maybe, just maybe, it'll work out of the box.

                        Sorry for the rant...

Sorry to hear that man. I've been unlucky with my 360 dying twice. But luckily my 2 HDTV's have been solid.

                          Gonna stick with DLPs?

I'll probably stick with rear projection, DLP or LCos (maybe the third generation SXRD's are fine...). I really don't want to have a flat panel on a big stand with my components nor do I want to wall mount and hide all the cabling in a house that we have to sell in 3/4 years.

Again, assuming they do a swap. I really like the Mits 831 1080p DLP, but the light engine haloes/blooming/whatever is pretty annoying. I thought my eyes were going bad initially.
