Switch to "Natural", "Low" color temp, turn off "Sharp Edge", Noise Reduction to "Off"...that should help out with the blur. Also get a calibration pattern and drop the contrast setting to the middle at least.

I know this has probably been asked before but at one point does refresh rate becoming meaningless? Our LCD is 8 ms and there might be a bit of ghosting although I really don't know. Most of the new TV sets are 5 ms now. Would you be able to tell the difference from 8 ms, to 5 ms, to 2 ms?Comment

I think 5ms is about perfect for eliminating ghosting. I think lower than that and you're stuck in the PC monitor or smaller size displays.I know this has probably been asked before but at one point does refresh rate becoming meaningless? Re: HDTV Questions and Answers Thread

I recently got a 55A2000, which is the same as the newer 3000 series. It has an incredible, lifelike picture, better than i've ever seen before. This is after trading in a vizio 47 1080p LCD. I highly recommend the Sony SXRD line. I am a big gamer and the Sony is very good with gaming, with much less blurring and a much more natural picture.Comment

Re: HDTV Questions and Answers Thread

My lcd tv has a bit of clouding around the corners is their any way to reduce this? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Another problem I had was with a bit of blurring with targeting reticules and slowdown with some games so I turned off a feature called TRU M which corrected the problem usually some of the built in features may not be meant for gaming more for movies."If you don't have anything good to say, say it often"- Ed the sockComment

Re: HDTV Questions and Answers Thread

Ok. So my choices are down to these three. If anybody has any experience with any TV's related or similar brands, let me know which one you'd choose.

 Sansui 32" - $550
 Vizio 32" - $600
 Westinghouse 32" - $600
 Vizio 37" - $700

Anybody have an idea of the best option to buy?

EDIT: Does anybody have a Sanyo? Thoughts?Last edited by WazzuRC; 09-21-2007, 07:07 PM.Comment

When I do get a new TV, that's the route I'm going. Their 47" 1080P LCD is in the $1500 range. Can't beat it.Comment

Re: HDTV Questions and Answers Thread

Well, yesterday my son takes one of his toy airplanes and throws it at the 32" Olevia LCD taking out almost the entire right half of the screen. It is aggravating with what he did, but I guess its my fault too since my wife has been bitchin' for months that I should have mounted it to a wall so the kids couldn't get to it.

We were looking around today at other LCD's, around 32" for the living room to replace the damaged TV. This TV isn't going to be used for gaming, but only for the kids and my wife to watch TV during the day. We bought a Westinghouse 32" LCD, are the Westinghouse LCD's ok?

Does anyone know that if I called Olevia and told them that the TV went out on its own that maybe they will repair it? There is no signs of damage on the screen itself, but it looks like the mirrors or whatever is behind it is damaged.

This week has been terrible between my car troubles and my son busting the TV.Comment

Re: HDTV Questions and Answers Thread

Sorry to hear that. At least a cheap 32" LCD is really cheap these days and maybe better than what you had. Maybe you can get it repaired but TV repairman seem to charge about $75 an hour just to look at the thing. They can't even guarantee at the beginning if they can fix it, how long it will take or what the price of parts may be.

Don't feel guilty about not mounting it on the wall. That wouldn't guarantee it won't break and wall mounts can be pricey. Besides, we've got our 32" LCD in an traditional entertainment unit and its better since its also closer to us. As soon as you mount that TV its probably two feet further away and will look significantly smaller.Comment
