I bought the P50HD back in January, and I love it. Beautiful picture, works great with my 360 and DirecTV. The built-in tuner also allows me to get over the air HD with a standard antenna.

Re: HDTV Questions and Answers Thread
IMO, not really worth it. But if you have the extra money lying around you may as well to "future proof" your investment. No tv shows are broadcast in 1080p yet....still just 720p and 1080i.
I'm not really a videophile so I can't tell a noticeable difference between 720p and 1080i much less 1080p and 1080i.Comment

FWIW: If you hadn't heard, Walmart will be selling Sanyo 50inch plasmas for around $999 tomorrow.
Has gotten good reviews and has 3 HDMI inputs.
However, I do LOVE the Vizio. I have the 32inch LCD and the picture and features are wonderful. PQ isn't as good as Sony or Samsung, but you're saving several hundred dollars too.Last edited by GAMEC0CK2002; 11-01-2007, 05:45 PM.Comment

Thanks for the response. I could afford it, it's just that I am a cheap sob. I am not a huge graphics are ultimate picture guy either. I do only buy about one tv a decade though and would like to make sure I'm not totally abandoned in a few years if i go with the lesser model.IMO, not really worth it. A couple more questions for anybody (I know nothing of these things). I noticed the Westinghouse models are affordably priced as well, any thoughts on these? Also, could I expect to find a better deal after the holidays, or do retailers not play this game with the higher end merchandise? Thanks.Last edited by the_riot; 11-02-2007, 08:32 AM.Comment

Re: HDTV Questions and Answers Thread
Hoping somebody here can answer a quick question... I just picked up a Toshiba HD-DVD player. I am hooking this bad boy up to my Mitsu DLP, which has an open HDMI port I wanted to use for this new player. My problem is that I have my sound running through a surround sound reciever, not directly into my TV. Unfortunately I just discovered my reciever does not have HDMI input/output.
So my question... can I still run an HDMI cable to my TV for the picture, and then run an optical cable to my reciever for sound? I wasn't sure if the HDMI running to my TV would override any other sound outputs. Granted, i'm not even sure how much of a difference HDMI will make over component since i'm only displaying 720p... so if anyone thinks it's not worth the bother I would like to know as well.
I am barely above an HDTV novice, and this is my first High Def DVD experiance... so please bear with me, and feel free to call me an idiot if any of this doesn't make sense!LET'S GO FLYERS, YANKEES, DOLPHINS!!!Comment

I'm a big fan of black friday so my advice is to wait (just a few more weeks). There will be significantly better brands with very competitive prices. Thanks for the response. Westys will be cheaper as well. Just depends on if you like waiting in line at night.Comment

Re: HDTV Questions and Answers Thread
I get off of work in the early am so that wouldn't be a problem. I'll scout around and see what deals are out there. It would also coincide with the release of ch2k8 so that could be a real fun friday. Thanks for the advice.Comment

Re: HDTV Questions and Answers Thread
Yep, that's the one I grabbed... although as of now I don't have any HD DVD's to watch yet! Plus i'm waiting on my HDMI cable to arrive in the mail. For now it's hooked up with component cables, and I threw in some regular DVD's to test it out. They all looked good... not really any noticable difference compared to my old progressive scan DVD player, but still good.
Other then that, the remote seems good and it was an easy setup. I'm planning on getting a HD DVD or 2 this weekend so I will let you know what I think.LET'S GO FLYERS, YANKEES, DOLPHINS!!!Comment

Check buy.com....you can get $10 off per item if you use a different credit card and email. I've saved at least $100 with google checkout.Yep, that's the one I grabbed... although as of now I don't have any HD DVD's to watch yet! Plus i'm waiting on my HDMI cable to arrive in the mail.
