It is somewhat of a risk and like you said "they may see your bluff", but if you have any experience in cancelling accounts whether it's an ISP or cable service these people will do anything to keep your business. It wouldn't suprise me if they make commission on convincing you to stay with the service.

Hey KDRE, I have a question for you. I'm finally going to order an HDTV satellite package, and am this close to ordering VOOM. However, I have a few more questions for you:
1)Since VOOM includes the off-air antenna, in order to receive digital local channels (a big plus), does that mean that no local (ABC, NBC, CBS) programs will be broadcast in HD? Or will the VOOM receiver decode the local channel and allow it to broadcast in HD (sorry for the confusion). The reason I ask is I want to watch my NFL games in HD, and don't want to pay for Sunday Ticket. Plus, aren't there a bunch of other programs that run in HD on the local channels?
2)Have you heard any news about ESPN HD, or just ESPN in general coming to VOOM? What about Fox News (though you said you don't watch it)?

1. You get all the locals that broadcast anything in HD. So for example over the past month, I'vee been watching NCAA March Madness games in HD. I saw Jesus last weekend in HD. There are tv shows that come on local channels in HD also. I do know for sure that Jay Leno is always in HD. So to you, if say abc broadcast an NFL game in HD then you'll get it in HD. The local HD is all up to the station itself, but whenever they want to broadcast in HD, it's there.
By the way Johnny, Voom has an NFL channel, and an NFLHD channel that shows the game of the week whatever that schedule is at the time in HD. During the offseason, the NFLHD channel shows no NFL stuff, and I haven't had much time to view the NFL channel, but I can check for you tonight.
2. I do watch Foxnews, but they don't have it. Is it coming yet, I'm not sure, all I know is they have CNN, and MSNBC, along with C-Span and things of that nature. They also have a HDNEWS channel, nothing like Fox, but it's news itself. I know it hurts not to have Fox News. You'd have to ask a CSR about that one, and their plans.
EPSN from what I've been hearing will be added very soon. Cablevision has just signed a contract with ESPN, and Voom has been in negotiations with them also, and the guys at AVS,a nd satellite guys are saying that the deal was done with no launch date yet, but they have all 5 ESPN channels
