Re: Another HDTV questions info thread
I was looking into getting a large screen tv. I don't want to spend a ton of money, but I also want to get something that will meet my needs. Basically, I have an X-Box, watch a ton of DVDs, and will be getting Dish shortly (possibly HD package as well). I was thinking about:
Anyone have experience with this set? Should I be looking at Plasma or DLP instead? Any advice would be appreciated.Mario Kart Wii: 1203 9969 5095
Super Smash Brothers: 1590 5514 9377

Originally posted by Heelfan71I don't know anything about that TV, but if you don't want to spend a ton of money, something like that would be perfect. Plasma/DLP/LCD will cost a lot more. XBOX and DVD's will look amazing on a TV like that.
By the way, if anyone gets the Star Wars box set and tries to view the extras DVD in your X-Box, be prepared for it to hang up. It seems to automatically try to run the Battlefront demo that's on the DVD rather than bringing up the main menu. Just a heads up.Last edited by caseyd; 09-22-2004, 07:35 PM.Mario Kart Wii: 1203 9969 5095

Re: Another HDTV questions info thread
Originally posted by caseydThanks! In reading this thread, it sounded like some people were saying that X-Box games might actually look worse on a widescreen tv. Is that the case? I have the Digh Definition pack connected into my surround sound system currently. If I got a tv like this, would that stay the same or would I hook more stuff into the tv itself? If I get Dish, does it hook into the tv? What about a progressive scan DVD? Sorry for my ignorance. Right now I have a Wega tube tv, but living out in the country, we've always just used an antenna on the roof for tv (no cable available), and I've always used the X-Box for DVDs. I'm trying to leap into the 21st century.
Dish Network and DVD Player will hook up to the TV fine. You would just need to buy some component cables most likely. My Fan Page http://theusualgamer.net/MyFanPage_Heelfan71.aspx
