This review scores it very well. http://www.pcworld.ca/news/product-c...6fb404/pg1.htm

I'm still confused as to how much to trust some of these high tech TV review sites live CNet. I totally believe them but maybe they have a trained eye and get turned off by things I might not care about. I am still a bit leary over LCD TVs (black levels, refresh rate for gaming). A 30" HD CRT still might be a good way to go for me although I was hoping to get a 32".

What about HDMI 1.3? Is that good enough for me to wait to get an HDTV?

No, my post a page or so back details why not to wait on buying an HDTV...not to mention that a lot of features for HDMI 1.3 (colorspace, etc) won't be supported by hardware or content for years. It's all done in the vain attempt at "standardizing" the hardware, and we all know how that works out

So we were supposed to get our HD box today. My roommate went to go pick it up at Charter and they told him they have a hold on HD boxes and we can't get one. So my TV will just be getting the regular signal for a while I guess. I really hate Charter.

go buy an antenna. you can, at least, pick up ABC, NBC, FOX, and CBS over the air.

It's an option, but it's another expense (how expensive are antennas anyway?) and I don't understand how we can just be denied service, basically.

Plus I don't know much about the antennas, but I don't think it'll work with our apartment.

Apparently now they're saying that he just can't pick it up. He called the company and they set up an installation between 1-5 on Tuesday. I just hope someone will be here during that time.

I went looking at TVs last night with my mind set on buying the Sony SXRD 50". The bad part is that they had a Samsung DLP sitting right next to it. I actually thought the Sammy looked a lot better, and it's a whole lot cheaper.

I am going back today after I do some research. I have been trying to decide on what to buy for nearly 2 years now and can't make up my mind. Anyone have one of the new Samsung DLPs? How is it? I think I want to go with the 50".

A bunch of us have an older model Samsung DLP. I'm not sure how the new one's look, but the one I have has been great. IMO, whatever you think you'll be happiest with is what you should get. I think both the SXRD and Samsung DLP are great TV's. Some prefer one over the other, but I don't think there's a clear winner.

I've asked this before, but does anyone have experience with the JVC HD-ILAs? They have new models out with true 1080P.

Alright, here are my 3 choices.

                              Panasonic TH-50PX6OU 50" Plasma 1366 X 768

                              Best Buy: 2489.99
                              HH Gregg: 2789.97

If I decide on the Plasma, hopefully I can get HH Gregg to price match and save a bunch of money. The 2489 at Best Buy seams like a great deal for this TV. I haven't heard much from anyone regarding this TV on OS, anbody?

                              Sony 50" SXRD KDS-50A2000 1080P

                              Best Buy: 2499.99
                              HH Gregg: 2249.97

This is the TV that I thought I really wanted, but I now undecided since looking at them last night.

                              Samsung 56" DLP HL-S5687W 1080P

                              Best Buy: 2299.99
                              HH Gregg: 2599.97

If I go with the DLP, I can get a larger screen for about the same price, but might have to buy another TV stand for it.

Ok, Chad just left calibrating my TV. Took him 4 hours. My TV looks AMAZING! Wow, I mean seriously, it's night and day, I have NBA2K7 on right now, and the clarity is SICK. Best $300 I've ever spent. Highly, highly recommend. MJB, he does to got Pittsburgh, but Johnny, he won't be in Boise anytime soon. Sorry.
