Is it true I want to stay away from flat panel if I'm going to be doing a lot of gaming? Also I know 1080p is a huge thing when it comes to the ps3 but this is only useful if I want to get a huge TV? which I don't.
how far away are you going to sit from the TV? What is your price range? How much room do you have for the TV?

It's going to be in my bedroom, and I'll mostly just be watching television and the occasional movie. I do have an Xbox (upgrading to to 360 soon, hopefully) that I'm going to want to use on the HDTV occasionally, but I can always game on the downstairs TV if need be.

Oh yeah, I'll be sitting anywhere between 6 and 10 ft away. I'm not really looking for a large screen, really.

If you are sitting between 6 and 10 ft, you need a larger TV if you are going HD. 23" is way too small especially at 10 ft. I would go with, at least, a 42" from 6 ft.

Is it that big of a difference from analog TVs? Because my 19" seems plenty big, you would think that a 23" would be even better, right?

            1080i vs 1080p?

Is there a huge difference between the resolution? I am think of buy a 51" CRT rear projection TV with 1080i. I plan on getting a PS3 and I know that has 1080p. Thanks for any insight.

If you are fine with a 19", then you'll be fine with the 23", since they are virtually the same size (23" is widesceen, making it not look as big as say a 24" tube SDTV)

I sit about 7-8 feet away and have a 34" tv, I couldn't be happier.

it's way too small from 6-10 feet. He's not going to appreciate the HD IMO. If I was going to stay with something that small, you would be better off sticking with analog.

That's it, in your opinion. If he's happy with the 19" he has now, and wants to get a little bigger HD set, and doesn't mind the distance, who cares. It'll actually look great on that little tv as it'll hide some flaws. I have the 23" sammy in my bedroom and it's amazing.

It's in my living room. I currently have a 27" Sony Wega standard definition TV and that is a good size for me. That's why I said between 26 and 32 inches. MY main question is whether I should go with crt or a flat panel either lcd or whatever. Price isn't my main concern. I'd rather spend the money and get the right TV although keeping it under $1000 would be nice. I also don't understand what the benefit of getting 1080p would be although I'm getting a ps3 I think, but you have to get a huge tv to take advantage of that?
