Plus, he says some hilarious things in this book, if you like his Page 2 Column, you'll love this book.
I'm reading it right now, great book. Simmons is hilarious.

        Dear old Nebraska U.
Where the girls are the fairest,

Of any old school that I knew.

Just finished Generation Kill: Devil Dogs, Iceman, Captain America and the New Face of American War. About Recon Marines during Operation Iraqi Freedom. I thought it was really good, I had a hard time putting it down while I was reading it.

John Feinstein's Next Man Up. It follows the 2004 or 2005 (i forgot). Its the first book of its kind. It's behind the scene and everything that happens at training camp, in the locker room, during the weeks at practice and moments leading up to the game. It's a decent enough book for sports fans to pick up.

For those planning on reading the DaVinci Code before the movie drops, do yourself a favor and pick up Angels and Demons first. This is the prequel to DVC. You can get it in paperback for like $5 and its a really good read.

Currently reading "Secret Societies of Americas Elite: from the Knights Templar to The Skull and Bones." Also reading "Strange Battles of the Civil War", its good because you can read any chapter in no particular order.

I got into all the knight Templar stuff after reading the Davinci code after reading Angels & Demons. I read Holy Blood, Holy Grail, its a pretty good book to read if you want a historical & theoretical basis on what the DaVinci code is about. The DaVinci code is entertaining, but alot of the assumptions made by Dan Brown in the Davinci Code are pretty far out there even for the people who believe the bloodline exists.

Actually read DaVinci first because Angels and Demons is a FAR superior book IMO. The story in Angels and Demons has more twists and turns than a winding country road. I hope DaVinci does well at the box office, so we can get a movie version of Angels and Demons. I've been on a Dan Brown kick lately and have read DaVinci, Angels and Demons, and Digital Fortress which has nothing to do with religion, but deals with code breaking. Digital Fortress is very good and you should be able to pick it up at a used book store for a couple of bucks. I'm reading Deception Point right now and it's a little slower than the other books, but very good nonetheless.

I tried to start reading "House of Leaves" at the start of the school year, but I never caught on with it.

Maybe I should give it a shot now?

The reason I suggested A&D first is because it happens before the DaVinci code story. I never really got into Digital Fortress, but Deception Point is very good IMO

I usually ask for about 5 at Christmas. I write down a list of 10 or so that I find interesting and let them choose. First thing to do is just go to a bookstore or look at Amazon at the Best Sellers. Then find one that sounds interesting. If you like it, try to find stuff by the author or in related categories.

That's how a found Angels & Demons a few years ago before the Davinci Code was all the rage.

I usually buy my books. I get them at one of the major bookstores usually. I travel every week so I read them at the airport/on the plane. If you don't want to keep them, then sell them back to a used bookstore or online.
