Even if you reduce New York City to the one burrough of Brooklyn... New York, New York would win City of the Year most likely this season. The wait couldn't have been longer but 9th Wonder is finally out with The Dream Merchant 2 and Brooklyn shines because of it. 9th has a underdog cast that wins the crowd. He also includes fellow Brooklyn natives Skyzoo, Sean Price, and Buckshot who are all having incredible success in 2007.

It's a style that has to be liked from the get-go. If you don't find yourself feeling 9th, you aren't going to feel this cd. It will remain tight in your mind but you won't go back to listen. I am a 9th freak. I love this album simply for it's amazing production. It's new and refreshing beats from the same ol' 9th Wonder and much hasn't changed. He still comes equipped with the same drum patterns, 4:00 track-loops, choppin' and screwin' with some classics with mic killing from Jean Grae.

Some gems are dropped on this album for real. There are a few duds that might drop the grade a tad, but overall if you like 9th Wonder, you will play this album a great deal. 9th seemed to be a ghost for most of the year after producing a few tracks for Sean Price like "Violent". He only recently came back into the spotlight with a few mixtape trackbangers and a whole instrumental gem in the "Leaky Beat Vault" which I will be reviewing shortly. 9th Wonder is most definitely the merchant of dreams.

My song to DL off of Dream Merchant 2 is definately "It Ain't Over" by Jozeemo and Tyler Woods. The energy on that song is just amazing.

I have the album but I haven't really listened to it.

Has anybody else listened to the Dirty Acres advance?

Nice review X. Gotta say I like Reminisce a lot but the official banger on this album for me is "Shots" jus for Sean P and the hook alone. Track is sick as hell also.

The 9th Wonder album is getting a rediculous amount of playing time from me.

The play counts collectively are much higher than any album I've got on my itunes.

                          Artist: Median
                          Album: Median's Relief
Producers: Ant B; C. Keen; Khrysis; Koen; Nicolay; 9th Wonder
                          Release Date: 9/25/2007

This "iddish" is tight. The overuse of that word isn't. Thanks Median.

You couldn't ask for better production on this long-awaited album dropped by Median. The beats create an overall mellow flow throughout the piece, which is very suitable for the content and mic presence of Median. There isn't too much to complain about besides Median not really being a stellar rapper lyrically, but he does make strides. On "How Big is Your World", he dropped some diamonds between the blue horizontal lines. He starts off with...

A tree died for me / to scribe on this loose-leaf / shallow niggas like Median is too deep / cats stay frontin' like they runnin' who's streets / world trade terror? now that's true beef!

The beauty of those bars right there is the fact that Median's views and outlook similarly match that throughout his whole album, for a semi-serious take on your average person's pop-culture knowledge and concerns.

A fateful trend in this album is the lackluster hooks. They don't seem to offer much towards the song in regards to factors such as enjoyability, song coherence, or simply summarizing what was written in the verses. Skyzoo would have been a nice addition considering this flaw.

Still... the 25th has rolled around, and you should (maybe even MUST) have this album.
