But his first 3 albums were unbelievably produced (his 2nd and 3rd albums were extremely underrated). If only he had produced 213's album. Now that album was dissapointing.
I own "In the Mid-Nite Hour"... not too impressed with it, but however like I said, there are some gems on there that I really enjoy listening to. I just feel like he strayed away from what makes him great to what might make him fall into Snoop's popularity crowd.

I love the song with Chuck Taylor ... "Turn it Up Loud"

well, after sampling the new dr. octagon cd, I will definitely not be getting it. I had only heard a couple of tracks when I posted yesterday that I wanted to get it. After hearing the rest, I'm glad I didn't waste my money.

Apparently, there's some big issue surrounding it. Like it's all this old stuff Kool Keith did, and the record company basically pushed it out with some new funky beats added it to make it sound like Dr. Octagon. I guess there was a big legal battle over it, and that Keith will be releasing the legitimate second Dr. Octagon album sometime in 2007. I hope that's true because most of this album sucks.

IIRC, this is actually the second time that that album was put out. It was pulled after it was revealed to be nothing more than an unauthorized bootleg. Hiphopsite was plugging the album hard for about a week and then issued an apology after they pulled it. They also gave refunds.

Strange to hear it's made it's way to iTunes after 3 years.

            it's not on iTunes.

I lost my copy of the original Dr. Octagon album and want to pick it up again. Not on iTunes, so I went to the store. It costs $17. What the ****?

What the what? I don't know where I got iTunes from, but don't talk to me like I'm 12. After all, I wasn't the one who was going to pay $17 for a bootleg.

                    Artist: Visionaries
Album: We are the Ones (We've Been Waiting For)
Producers: DJ Khalil; James Alsander; J-Dilla; Polyhedron; J Rocc; Kev Brown; DJ Rhettmatic (5); KeyKool (3); Madlib

This album is laced with confessions and reflections from all that call themselves the Visionaries. "They"... would be 2Mex, LMNO, Lord Zen, Dannu, KeyKool, and DJ Rhettmatic. Also included (on one 7-minute track) are Rakaa Iriscience from Dilated Peoples, Sadat X from Brand Nubian, and a couple others. Some of the songs are a bit boring though, as the same message again and again tends to be portrayed. One track per subject please! Some of the songs, however, are superbly written, or produced masterfully. The beat for the song "All Right" may seem a bit annoying at first (that high-pitched hum) but after you get used to it, and realize its intricacies, you will again remember why we will all miss J-Dilla very much (Rest in Power Jay Dee!). Some tracks are good for lounging, and some are good for partying. Whatever it may be, this isn't too bad of an album to pick up.

What are you talking about dude? The first quote was about you, simply saying that Dr. Octagon isn't available through iTunes.

The second quote has nothing to do with you whatsoever. I wrote it straight it and it reads straight. I went to the store to see how much a copy of the first Dr. Octagon cd was, and it was $17, which is ridiculous, hence the "what the ****" in my post. Not sure where you got the bootleg idea from. I have no idea how I was talking to you like you were 12, maybe you should re-read my post again.

Visionary fan here (Long Beach!).. I don't know how I feel about their latest project.. but I just saw them a couple nights ago and they perform excellent live. Good review there xcell.. man you have some serious range when it comes to hip-hop. I'm sure there are a few others on here who I could say the same about.. it's fantastic.

yeah man... it's my passion... I just love everything about it. Without music (preferrably soul/underground rap) I don't know what I'd do with myself honestly.

Didn't read straight to me. You mentioning iTunes again made it look like the 2 paragraphs were connected. And yes, that Dr. Octagon CD was nothing more than a glorified bootleg, which is EXACTLY why hiphopsite pulled it.

Back to things that are relevant...Little Brother's working with Primo (!) and Alchemist (!) for their next album.

Anyone picking up the Celph Titled 4-disc set? It drops 10/24.
