Artist: Brand Nubian
Album: Time's Runnin' Out
Producers: Vance Wright; Lord Jamar; Grand Puba; DJ Alamo
Release Date: August 17, 2007
A pretty enjoyable effort by the legendary undergrounders Brand Nubian which happened to actually be their reunion album, and NOT 1998 Album of the Year "Foundation". Some of the songs on this album could have bumped "Foundation" to classic status, but to an extent Lord Jamar and Grand Puba are not great producers, and not too many songs are "Gosh, damn" status, and a few songs are pretty yuck. It doesn't stop them from making some of the finest gems our ears have ever heard. I've listened to "Girls, Girls, Girls" which is produced by DJ Alamo 58 times already. And it's been 2 weeks.
Sadat X gets pretty tiresome on the album because his rhyme scheme isn't one of his strongs points. It's much more exposed on this album with the more simpler Puba/Jamar beats, and his verse isn't even very good on the Song to Download of the Year Track. Grand Puba is still legendary. If only he was that amazing on his solo efforts. Still, all in all, group work theoretically get the better ratings because of the nice balance it provides. This album is still really enjoyable. 87% is a good grade fellas... just think about getting an 87 in college. I'd be thrilled.
