      Artist: Custom Made
      Album: Truth Be Told
Producers: Abstract; First Child; Finesse; Jayem & More
      Release Date: May 15, 2007

Half of the beats are good. Half the beats sound exactly the same, and those beats suck. The emcees of Custom Made resemble the average rapper but in turn lack any unique qualities that set them apart from the game. The album is 10 tracks, and only four stand out. Not surprising that the best song contains the popular Barry White "Walkin' in the Rain with the One I Love" sample.

I really only suggest finding that if you really enjoy the sample. Otherwise, Custom Made can be fun to listen to here and there, but this cd just doesn't cut it. Don't waste your time.

Slick Rick - The Great Adventures of Slick Rick : Very entertaining cd. Slick Rick is the best storytelling rapper ever.

De La Soul - 3 Feet High & Rising : Some of the best beats ever and they still hold up well today. Still De La Soul's best cd.

            Artist: Styles P
            Album: Independence
Producers: The Batkave; CheckMateMuzik; Earthtone III, The Tracklords
            Release Date: August 31, 2007

Styles P has developed a following. He doesn't possess any super-rap-powers regarding flow or lyricism etc., but the man is unique and quite enjoyable to bump even on a regular basis. That being said, I was extremely surprised/pissed to see that after a solid album called "Ghost Sessions", Styles P gave us "Independence" which is no more pleasing than bags of garbage rotting in 100 degree weather. You can't really complain about Styles P because he does "he", but his features are shockingly attrocious.

Other than Jadakiss, the rappers are so elementary. It was like they were taught every bad stereotype about rap (lyrics and flow included) and forced to execute it. 6 of the 12 tracks were produced by The Batkave and as hard as some of the beats are able to go, I still get the impression that he hasn't been producing for very long. I don't know if his aim on "Ta Dis" was to chop up the beat like that, but newsflash buddy: it doesn't sound good. It actually sounds like he just restarts the track a few times. Last time I checked, it wasn't considered talent for a producer to press the << button.

Get the Ghost Sessions... pass on this.

I gotta say I've drifted from Brother Ali quite a bit. Just not my cup of tea anymore for some reason.
