Re: fans of underground rap?
In your opinion. I thought the beats were much better on "Reloaded". Subject matter and lyrics were the same thing. The generic production really turned me off this time.
But it's all subjective. Just chiming in with a different viewpoint.xbl gamertag: jiggidyjames72Comment

Re: fans of underground rap?
No that's true. I thought Reloaded would have been better if they used Da Beatminerz more. It still was a solid overall album, but I haven't stopped bumping "The Album" since I got it. "Gotta Say It" ft. Chuckii Star gets me mad pumped up.SAN ANTONIO SPURSComment

Re: fans of underground rap?
Artist: Smif 'N' Wessun
Album: The Album
Producers: Collen and Webb; Ken Ring; Rune Rotter; Tommy Tee; Ken BB; Soul Theory
Release Date: October 19, 2007
I have to admit that I didn't recognize any of the names in the production credits except for Rune Rotter who has done stuff for the BCC in the past like 2006's runner up for Album of the Year, "The Last Stand". Still, this album made me experience some of the best beats I've ever heard before. It's about time that Smif 'N' Wessun picks some quality production to anchor their album.
The Cocoa B's are still on their mafioso rap and their angles are well-captured by the instrumentals. The hooks are good on nearly every track. The lyrics on "See the Light" are some of the best I've heard from Tek 'n' Steele. There isn't any special concept to this album other than Smif 'N' Wessun just being themselves and following the Boot Camp Clik mold by releasing an album just like everyone else in it.
The good songs keep coming as you go through. Around the end, a wall appears to be struck with the beats and you get three really disatisfying songs but the ten tracks on the album that I behold as good are not only good, but stunning. One of the best albums (if not THE best album) of 2007 for sure.

Re: fans of underground rap?
They have no exposure. If I was never a Little Brother fan I wouldn't even know that they existed or that they had a cd coming out. Even when I lived in Raleigh I didn't know anybody else who had heard of them.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

I bought 3 copies of Little Brother and give them to friends, i'll still keep my bootleg version. And bought a get back t-shirt...I'm trying LB i'm trying
They completely broke away from the independent label that this album is under as well, they are independent for real.Ericmaynor3.com

Re: fans of underground rap?
Can anyone find this?:
Also... if you buy, do yourself a favor and turn it on mute. Probably the weakest audio effort I've ever heard on any videogame ever. The commentary is meaningless and unresourceful, and the music?... the music will burn your ears right off your head.
Without further ado...
CD's to look forward to...
Artist: Cunninlynguists
Album: "Dirty Acres"
Producer(s): Kno
Release Date: November 27th
Reason: "Yellow Lines" is a beastly song especially because of the Phonte collab. Devin the Dude is also appearing, and Natti and Kno return after a strong showing on the Qn5 mixtape that dropped earlier this year. "Baby" by Natti is being considered for Mixtape Song to DL of the Year. This cd is a must get I would say.
Artist: Ghostface Killah
Album: "The Big Doe Rehab"
Featuring: Raekwon; Inspectah Deck; Method Man; Kid Capri; Theodore Unit
Release Date: December 4th
Reason: Another instrallment from G.K... You can't ignore it, but I'm not expecting anything great out of this. It still leads you to this a week later...
Artist: Wu-Tang Clan
Album: "8 Diagrams"
Producer(s): RZA; Mathematics; Loose Change; Aqua Kid; Choco; DJ Scratch; Easy Mo Bee; Q-Tip
Release Date: December 11th
Reason: 24 tracks and Wu-Tang hasn't released an album collectively since 2001. This is a must-try for me.
Artist: RZA
Compilation: "The World According to RZA"
Producer(s): RZA
Release Date: Out Now!
Reason: These are instrumentals. Time to kill it in the car again.
Artist: Guilty Simpson & DJ Rhettmatic
Mixtape: "Stray Bullets"
Producer(s): Madlib; Eric Lau; Mr. Porter; Jake One; Blitz; Essman; Alius; Silent Riot; Black Milk; J-Dilla; Cysion
Release Date: Out Now!
Reason: Every good artist out of Detroit (except for that rat bastard Eminem) makes an appearance. Because of the producers and the fact that Guilty Simpson's album got pushed wayyy back... this is a must get for now. Btw... I can't find it anywhere... anyone got links?
Artist: Kwest the Madd Lad
Compilation: "These Are My Unreleased Recordings"
Producer(s): L.A. Jay; Tony D; Fat Jack
Release Date: November 20th
Reason: Learn about these dudes and then check them out. Old school at it's finest most likely. If you like Pharcyde or Poor Righteous Teachers, this is gooooood for you.
Artist: The Away Team
Album: "Training Day"
Producer(s): Khrysis
Release Date: Out Now!
Reason: Khrysis, Sean Price, Black Milk, Evidence, and D-Brock are on here... I only needed to hear Khrysis' name to commit to this one.
Artist: Buck 65
Album: "Situation"
Producer(s): Skratch Bastid; DJ Signify
Release Date: Out Now!
Reason: It looks nice. I'll give it a listen just to testdrive.
Artist: Edgar Allen Floe
Mixtape: "Floe Almighty: The Remixture"
Producer(s): 9th Wonder; Khrysis; Blunt; Slicemysta; Word 3rd Productions
Release Date: November 13th
Reason: The 2006 Mixtape of the Year is getting a makeover for 2007 and I honestly can't wait another day for this one.
Artist: Jean Grae
Compilation: "The Orchestral Files"
Producer(s): N/A
Release Date: November 20th
Reason: Jean Grae hasn't released solo ish for a WHILE!!!... I know my boys and girls are going to love this one so I must hook em up.
On the Fence about....- "American Gangster" - Jay-Z
- "Reality Rap" - Infamous Mobb
- "Blue Cheese and Coney Island" - Bizarre
- "The Cool" - Lupe Fiasco
- "Supa Gangsta, Extraordinary Gentleman" - Styles P

Re: fans of underground rap?
In the Mainstream...
Artist: Jay-Z
Album: American Gangster
Producers: Diddy; The Hitmen; DJ Toomp; The Neptunes; Mario Winans; Just Blaze; Bigg D
Release Date: November 6th, 2007
This album is an overall solid piece but nothing will wow you from it. This is something we've come to expect from Jay-Z who's work as of late has been yawn-enducing. On the flip side, Just Blaze seems to get better and better everytime he produces a track and he was one mistake away from making "Ignorant ****" ft. Beanie Sigel one of the best beats/tracks ever made, no joke. His sample of "Big Poppa" wasn't anything too hard or complex but it's pretty appropriate knowing Jigga man and Biggie's history. "I Know" produced by The Neptunes is another fantastic song, but the rest of the album is very blehh. I wouldn't suggest buying it unless you have some serious Jay-Z nut-clinging issues and think he's the all-time greatest. Don't fool yourself.
