    Re: Comic Book Fans....

Following up on my prior question. I'm interested in the teen Titans (fan of the original cartoon and the new show seems cool). Any recommendations on where to start there? It's my understanding that there have been several, I guess, reboots of the franchise.

Here's an article from a couple years ago. I'm assuming these trades are still in print and if not, i'm sure you can find them easily available in the secondary market:

I may not be reading the new books these days but I sometimes check in to see what's going on....Wow the new DC Black Label imprint already has some controversy what with the first issue of the Batmanamned book showing Bat Schlong LOL

It's a mature readers book but yeah....I took a look at the issue....Not my cuppa.

Picked up Batman: White Knight. Haven't started it though.

In it, the Joker is cured of his insanity, becomes a politician using the name Jack Napier, and tries to save Gotham City from Batman, who is portrayed (at least through Jack's eyes) to be the true villain and cause of the endless cycle of crime in the city.

          There's also two Harley Quinns.

Okay, seriously that sounds like a good story. Guess i'll be reading that. These feel like Elseworlds to me. This is out of continuity right?

Out of the main continuity, yes. But there's still some main stuff, like Joker having killed Jason Todd.

And you can pick up the trade like I did. It was only an 8 issue run, so it's not a huge book or anything.

I went back and read a lot of those early 1980’s New Teen Titans fairly recently. To me they still hold up as some of the best comics ever. The first 45 ish issues of the series are fantastic and it stayed solid if not spectacular after that for awhile. I think they changed the originals series title to Tales of the New Teen Titans around issue 40 or so to set up moving the series to fancy Baxter Paper that could only be bought in specialty stores and not on newsstands. So around issue 45ish of “Tales” their were 2 Teen Titans comics being published and you can really tell when you go back that 45-59 were filler issues until Tales started reprinting the Teen Titan from the Baxter paper, comic shop only series. The stories are still fine but you can tell they weren’t going to do too much in the way of character development since this was kind of the stepchild series.

I digress. Just read books :-)

I have fond memories of the X-Men/Teen Titans crossover in the early 80s. Can't go wrong with Darkseid attempting to resurrect Dark Phoenix. (This was before Jean Grey got resurrected every 6 months or so.)

I started reading Batman: White Knight, and last night I tweeted about how good it was.

This morning the guy that wrote and illustrated it, Sean Murphy, liked my tweet.

Might honestly be the closest I've had to a celebrity interaction on Twitter and it was so cool lol.

I recently learned that there is a new series "Raven" and "Raven: Daughter of Darkness". So, I finally took a plunge into what I said I was going to do months ago about getting into comics.

I read the short run of "Raven" and the followup "Raven Daughter of Darkness", and I'm really enjoying them. Raven is one of my favorite comic book heroes, and I love seeing her in this quasi superhero/normal teenager state. Unfortunately I guess this is just a limited run? Not really sure how comics work in this regard, but I hope she gets more of her own stories like this.

Most of the time, if there's a title after the name (Raven: Daughter of Darkness), it's a limited run or a miniseries.

Dang that sucks. What about the "Raven" comic in general? There is a short run of "raven", and then there is "raven daughter of darkness" which takes place just after the original "Raven" run. Does that mean we could see like Raven ____ next?

I think next up for me is either teen Titans or batman beyond.
