Re: The Da Vinci Code, Movie
well it's got my favorite actor Tom Hanks in it... I'll go see it regardless, I'm sure this movie will do well no matter what the critics say... but at the same time I could see this being a massive flop just as easily...http://flotn.blogspot.com

Originally posted by Fresh TendrilsThe movie has gotten panned on Rotten Tomatoes thus far.
By panned I thought you meant bad....
But I didn't think you meant 8% bad... holy crap... that's the lowest rating I've ever seen for a movie on Rotten Tomatoes... WOW... This could be a horrible disaster.http://flotn.blogspot.com

Re: The Da Vinci Code, Movie
Certainly a little worrying...but I honestly dont think I've ever really agreed with critics on most movies that I end up liking.
Usually why I don't read reviews of movies before seeing them. I'm just wondering if the critics were expecting a super-thriller, or something, because calling it a "talky" film means it's more or less exactly like the book. Wasn't like the book was overly action filled, it just got your mind working with twists and all the facts...
R.T's ratings certainly aren't going to make me suddenly want to wait until it's out on DVD, I'll still be going this weekend.Comment

If a critic doesn't like a silly comedy or an action movie, it might still be entertaining to a lot of people. If they don't like a "talky" movie, it's probably as bad as they say.Comment

Originally posted by GenoGI agree, I liked Angels & Demons better than Da Vinci Code. I was thinking that it could be because I read Da Vinci first, so I was more prepared for Dan Brown's style of writing... Just my thought
Originally posted by DefelCredible critics wouldn't care if a movie was "talky" as long as it was good. The public movie going audience might, but not 15 out of 16 critics as it stands right now.

Re: The Da Vinci Code, Movie
You misunderstood...
I was saying critics probably wouldn't pan a movie for having lots of dialogue if the dialogue and movie is good. Movies that get the best reviews from critics are typically character-based dramas that rely on dialogue, not action, to get their point across.
I don't really have an opinion on The Da Vinci Code besides the fact that I was sort of looking forward to it. I hope you find it worth your money.Comment

I just think too many people put too much into reviews all around these days: movies, music, games, TV shows, everything. Critics and experts who could have completely different taste than you, and who I've found have different taste than me multiple times, say the movie, or game, or show, isn't good, and people don't bother checking it out for themselve.
