Re: The Da Vinci Code, Movie
Agreed completely Longhorn that Angels and Demons was a better book. I loved it much more than the DaVinci Code. I'm re-reading the book right now to be refreshed before seeing it Friday afternoon.
As far as the controversy goes, I think it's a little nutty simply due to the fact that it's a work of fiction. I view most everything with an open mind, and that's what you have to do with the DaVinci code. It's a thriller and page turner that deals with one of the two worst subjects to broach with anyone, religion with the other being politics. I'd say go see it if you like a good mystery and a good thriller and can see past the ideas put forth by Leigh Teabing (character in the book) about religion. I'm just not sure that I'll like Hanks for the lead role of Robert Langdon. When I read both Angels and Demons and DaVinci, I pictured someone like a younger Harrison Ford in the role.Comment

Also for anyone who's interested, I've got all the Dan Brown books Deception Point, DaVinci, Angels and Demons, and Digital Fortress, so if anyone wants to read them, I'll be more than happy to ship em to you if you pay the postage and you can keep em as long as you'd like.Comment

I recently bought DaVinci Code. It's sitting on the side only because I'm reading Stephen King's On Writing. Once that's done I'll be reading DaVinci Code and watching the movie immediately after.
(funny how as I type this I'm staring at a DaVinci Code banner hanging under the OS logo)"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

I'd rate it as his fourth best book. I rank em like this
1. Angels and Demons
2. DaVinci
3. Digital Fortress
4. Deception PointComment

Re: The Da Vinci Code, Movie
Not planning on seeing it.
I don't like the fact that it mixes fact with fiction.
But I really don't feel like debating it on here.Green Bay Packers | Milwaukee Brewers | Bradley Braves | Wisconsin Badgers

Re: The Da Vinci Code, Movie
People always find something to complain about. Hell, you can tell a new Harry Potter movie or book is releasing or has just been released when all the letters to the editors are talking about witches and satan worshipping being soaked up by the children.

Re: The Da Vinci Code, Movie
The movie, like the book, is FICTION. People need to understand that.
Anyway, Im getting ready to read Digital Fortress. I might have to take you up on that offer dave.Comment
