I don't see anyone in here "believing" this....we all actually realize that it is FICTION. It is meant to ENTERTAIN.

That's kind of how I felt. I thought the acting was superb, and unlike a lot of people, I don't think Hanks was majorly miscast. But it seemed like every line, sans the few occasional jokes thrown in there, served no purpose other than to explain something to the audience. I felt like there was next to nothing in terms of character development or chemistry between characters.

That being said, I still thought the movie was worth seeing.

I think that's one of the consequences of making this movie before Angels & Demons. A lot of Langdon's development (as a character) were included in that book. The press got on this movie for its lack of romantic chemistry between the two lead characters, but Langdon's thoughts are still with Vittoria from the first book. An unfair criticism in my opinion.

This movie will serve its purpose as paving the way for drawing huge audiences to the next two movies that are going to follow it.

I actually thought the movie was very enjoyable. Was Angels and Demons the sequel? If so I have to read that now

There's a third "Robert Langdon" book coming out within the next year, I think.

And Dan brown has two other books "Digital Fortress" and "Deception point" you may want to check out.

What is the book centering on in terms of storyline?

Called the Solemn Key, and takes place in Washington(I'd assume revolving around the Smithsonian maybe?)

The tentatively titled "Solomon Key" is supposed to be centered in and around Washington D.C., its architecture, and the Masons. Masonic influences can be seen in everything around D.C. (so I've been told). There are numerous books about it, "Egypt on the Potomac" for one, and large number of our founder fathers were Free Masons.

For example: The Capitol, Washinton Monument, White House, Lincoln Memorial, and the Jefferson Memorial all (supposed to) form a perfect cross. However, the ground were the Washington Monument was supposed to be erected was too soft so they had to move in a couple hundred yards closer to the Capitol. There is a small plaque in the place where the Washington Monument is supposed to rest.

Conspiracy theorists/rumors have it that every single one of our presidents with the exception of two were/are Free Masons.

If you think hard enough figuring out the two that weren't is pretty easy.

Here's a hint: They've been historically linked for decades.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer

I've been waiting on this sequal for way too long. I'm excited about the fact that it takes place in the US so I'll know where in the hell they are talking about whenever I get my hands on the book.
