I could live with the Penguin being in this flick if they use the recent comic book version of him. You know the guy that basically runs the entire Gotham underworld.

Re: Batman 2 Discussion
Looks like Heath Ledger will be playing the Joker.
Brokeback Mountain star Heath Ledger may have scored the coveted role of The Joker in the Batman Begins sequel, according to press reports in Australia. The actor was reportedly offered the plum part last week and will star in the next installment of the film set to be released in 2008. Oscar-winner Robin Williams was reportedly desperate to land the role and The Da Vinci Code star Paul Bettany was also rumored to be in talks for the part. According to film website Moviehole.net, filmmakers wanted to cast an actor in the part of Batman's adversary who was roughly the same age as 32-year-old star Christian Bale. Ledger is also working with Bale on I'm Not There, a film in which seven actors embody different aspects of musician Bob Dylan's life and work.“Nobody in the history of the game tried what I just tried. I think Robin Williams would have been perfect.

Re: Batman 2 Discussion
A new rumor Jett posted:I got wind of this rumor (and that’s all it is right now, OK?) not long ago from one of my industry friends. At the time, he himself said I should sit on it as it was nothing more than scuttlebutt and couldn’t be confirmed. So that’s exactly what I did -- I sat on it and didn‘t mention it on BOF. Then today, I got an email from an emailer who has absolutely nothing to do with my insider amigo, but dropped the same bit of info the former had previously.
Both mentioned a name of a 32 year old actor who may, according to what both these guys heard, be being considered for the part of D.A. Harvey Dent. He’s an actor similar to the 27 year old Heath Ledger to a certain degree, although he’s nearly five years his senior. Who is this actor you ask?
Ryan Phillippe...
I seriously hope this is only a rumor as I would love to see either Leiv or Josh Lucas get the part.

What's with all these pseudo pretty boys?!?!
I also would rather see Liev Shrieber as Harvey Dent. I mean you have to have someone who looks a bit rough around the edges and with the kind of face that screams "i've been there and done that".Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

They could do worse than Phillipe though. He's a pretty decent actor. Its not like he's Freddy Prinz.Comment

Update from Batman-on-Film:
The Penguin Confirmed? Ledger Not Done-Deal?
Author: Jett
Monday, July 31, 2006 - 5:46 AM CENTRAL TIME: Y'all are going to LOVE this! I think. Anyway, this comes in from probably my best source who confirmed many things for BOF in the past (such as the Katie Holmes and Ken Watanabe casting; the offer made to Ledger). Here goes:
As you have long suspected, the two main villains in the BATMAN BEGINS sequel will be The Joker and The Penquin.
I can confirm (as I did a few weeks ago) that while an offer has been made to Heath Ledger, Ledger has not signed any deal, and is reluctant to do so (at the moment.) Ledger is not a lock.
It seems Nolan has been listening to you guys when it comes to casting his other villain, however. I can confirm that an offer has been made to Phillip Seymour Hoffman for the role. Yet Hoffman has indicated that he may not get involved in the sequel.
Also, industry reaction to the Ledger 'leak' has been much like the fans: A fair bit of head scratching, and a generally tepid response.
So the scuttlebutt long reported by BOF that The Penguin will be in the sequel looks to be true (The rumor is that he'll be a British arms dealer/mob boss with designs on Gotham). Also, this was the second time in a very short time frame that I heard that Ledger, while offered the part, had not yet signed on. While I'm down with the offer to Ledger due to my trust of Chris Nolan, I've on record saying that I would've prefered someone else for the part (like my choice, Lachy Hulme). There's a bit more to this, so check back later today for additional info.

I suppose it's possible tho.
I'd prefer someone a little older to play the part but I'd be down with PSH as the Penguin.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Batman 2 Discussion
I hope Nolan continues with what he started with in the first film by not killing off the villians. Thats really my only problem with the Spiderman movies.
