Re: The Dark Knight Discussion
This movie was chaotic the whole time. It was mind blowing how psychotic the Joker was and it gave me chills everytime Ledger was on screen. Everything from the scars to manurisms and the different emotions you've felt through out the movie was something i've never really experienced with a character before.
I just can never be satisfied with another Batman villain again. No matter who they put in the 3rd your just going to want it to be the Joker every time.
I don't really know the story much but I would love that 10 or 15 years from now that Bale and Nolan does another Batman series but as the Old Batman. I would think that Robin would be in the mix some how but I think would be an epic idea if they can do this again in the next decade.Comment

Re: The Dark Knight Discussion
Finally saw the movie this afternoon. I have to say, i was WOWWED. I was pumped for the movie several months ago, but my hyped for it died down a week or two before the movie came out. Then one of my co-workers saw it midnight and couldn't stop bragging.
I loved Batman Begins, but this movie makes the first look like it was made for a 10 year old. This movie rips the first one to shame. If anyone here saw the first Pirate of the Caribbean, you guys see what Johnny Depp did to the first one right? I felt as if the Joker did the same for this movie. Heath Ledger was incredible. Everything he did was pure awesomeness. Every time he was on screen, i couldn't bare to look away. It really shames me that he might not be in the sequel.
The one complaint i had, was during one or two scenes were the camera started to go around in a circle, felt as if that was unnecessary. However that's the only fault i saw watching the entire movie.
Heath was really insane, he was so good i was laughing. I mean everything he did appeared to be so thought through, he was so good, i couldn't help my self from just laughing at him, it was bizarre.
Side Note:Maggie isn't hot, but she did a great job as playing Rachel, shes a good actress.
SpoilerAbout the bout issue and the bomb, in reality, i really do think that in real life one of the civials would of definitely pressed the button.
We all have human morals, however it was the life of convicted felonies vs the life of your familes and friends who've done nothing wrong. It would take guts, but someone would of definitely done it
You do what? I thought the triggers were sent to their own boats as well. In my mind had double crossed them like he did when he told Batman where Havey and Rachel were.
Saw the movie yesterday, still not ready to talk about it. Suffice it to say that I loved it and plan to watch it again many more times. However, some Batman 3 villain talk....
SpoilerMy one gripe with this franchise so far is that it's burned through four of Batman's absolute best villains in just two movies, three of which have been pretty much exhausted and the fourth of whom, if he's not dead, is at least in police custody and therefore unable to be the main villain of the third movie.
The one thing Nolan has done with these villains is return them to a primal and realistic existence. No more freeze-rays, man-eating plants, mind control devices and other ridiculous gadgetry and inanity. Look at the Joker for instance - he used primordial weapons like drums of oil and simple knives, but he used them in an exotic and dangerous way so they seemed out of the ordinary. So whoever the main villain is in the next movie, we can pretty much rule out villains with superpowers or other unnatural and unrealistic existences.
The next villain also needs to tie back into the mob. Villains aside, the mob has been the main story in both movies so far and Batman finally taking them down (and rising from outcast to hero) needs to be the main plot of the third movie. So I think the best choice, for all of these reasons, would be....
Black Mask. Wikipedia describes him as follows:
Roman Sionis, a former business executive who originally hated Bruce Wayne rather than Batman, wears a Black Mask and leads the cult-like False Face Society of henchmen. Black Mask eventually became a mob boss controlling large sections of Gotham's criminal underworld.
In my opinion, we don't need a blockbuster villain like Riddler, Penguin, Catwoman, etc. I would even be ok with no villain at all. But I think Black Mask would provide a perfectly respectable villain while refocusing the movie where it should be focused - on the mob and on Batman's rise as hero of Gotham after his fall in TDK.SpoilerMonths before the movie even released, it was hinted that we would see Harvey Dent turn into two face around the end of the movie, setting him up to become the main villain in the 3rd.
Now i'm not too sure, but he didn't die did he? At the end they had a picture of him and Gordan was giving a speech, but i had no thought of it as a mourning speech, more like hes recuperating or something along those lines.
I remember hearing that Two Face was suppose to be the main villain of the 3rd with the Joker taking a backseat, however the Joker would still have a big presence in the movie. But with Heath's death, i'm not too sure exactly what their planning with the 3rd now.
But i still think the main guy going to be Harvey DentLast edited by marshallfever; 07-20-2008, 12:55 AM.Comment

Re: The Dark Knight Discussion
I am speechless after seeing this film what H.Ledger did with the Joker is just amazing I have seen some good villains in my day. But that might have been the best on screen performance I have ever seen in the evil category. The film was simply briliant one questions how in the world did C.Nolan walk that high wire line and not get a rated R rating for the film?Comment

Re: The Dark Knight Discussion
Well, I gave it a second viewing tonight. It is official, and with no strings attached. Forgetting the hype, the hooplah, not saying it to conform, whatever... this is the single greatest film I have ever seen in my entire life, and it would probably take another Nolan/Nolan piece to top it. This movie is simply astonishing from start to finish. It really does make Batman Begins look pretty dull and tame in comparison.
Only thing is I saw it with my 14 year old sister and her three friends. I would understand them maybe not getting some parts because they hadn't seen the first one, but it's another thing to start texting during all of the talking scenes and not understanding it. Re: The Dark Knight Discussion
Well, I didn't know that it was one of Batman's nicknames. In fact, I still don't know a thing about Batman outside of these two movies (aside from a few of his enemies like Riddler, Penguin, Catwoman, etc.), and frankly, if it's something outside of the movies, I don't really care. It's Nolan that makes me love these movies, not the character itself.
I'm sure many others would agree (at least for those that started with Batman Begins).Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: The Dark Knight Discussion
Incredible movie. Heath Ledger was completely amazing as the Joker. Extremely well written/directed; I loved the way morality played out and the dilemmas the characters were put in... I'm still thinking about it. RIP HeathHBO's "The Wire" should rank as one of the top 10 shows EVER on tv - period

Re: The Dark Knight Discussion
I love and hate this movie. I love it because it was amazing and I'm not sure my life will ever be the same. I hate it because it put every other movie ever made to shame and I don't know if I can ever watch another movie because all I'll be able to think about is how terrible it is compared to The Dark Knight. Just got home from seeing it in IMax and I want to turn around and go see it again. I'm still in awe, I can't even really intelligently describe what I just saw. I just know that I loved that movie and I want to go see it again.Comment

im not much of a movie goer.. the lady and i went last night to see this and IMO it was a good movie. to much hype for it to live up to!! Ledger i must admit was gold. he played an awesome Joker. no one will ever be able to do what he did with that character ever again.
i also thought it started to drag towards the end, like it was to long or something.. but that could be just me as i stated im not much of a movie goer.Twitch

Let's face it. Heath Ledger OWNS this character now. I think most, if not all, can agree that the Joker doesn't get any better than this.Comment

There are too many variables in the argument of whether another actor could have pulled off the role as good to even have it be up for discussion, in my opinion.Comment

Re: The Dark Knight Discussion
The one thing is that i wasn't too fond of the new costume's neck piece. It made his head seem sort of big. With the old costume, the nick piece was as big as the head piece so to say. So it fit him perfectly. The new costume was great, but i still think they should of fixed the neck piece while still allowing him to turn his head and not look like a "watermelon head."Comment
