I know that it wasn't aimed personally to me. I was just not too happy with that part of the movie where he lifted the krypto land + walk the krypto land with nothing happening to him.

I thought Krypto Land was a super dog park.

Okay...Commando is a MOVIE that uses realistic items such as cars, boats, weapons, etc. But, because my father was in the army, he taught me alot about certain weapons and the scene towards the end when Arnie blew up the enemy barracks with CLAYMORES...was totally BS. Claymores are anti-personnel mines that explode but spread fragments of shrapnel...not blow up three large buildings.

Now that I'm in the Air Force, MANY movies exude BS while using REAL weapons with UNREALISTIC capabilities or effects. Now if this was Star Wars or any futuristic story, with MAKE-BELIEVE weapons, aircraft, etc. MY BELIEF can then be suspended.

Again, particular scenes or entire movies will always have this effect on me just like cats in the other threads crying about how NCAA XX doesn't have the right color chinstraps for their favorite team or their stadium is missing the old vendor who's been selling hot dogs for the past 50 years..

routh is the reincarnation of reeves lol, he did a riduclously great job how he was acting dorky as kent and so serious as superman it was great, also it was an emotional movie to see how its been many years since a superman movie has came out and it was great to see it back and the song at the begining of the movie is hott

I didn't see Routh as "ridiculously great" by any stretch of the imagination, but I also didn't see him as a big problem in this movie. The pacing of the movie was too slow, the villain wasn't scary, the script was dull, Lois and Supe and the kid had no chemistry, etc,etc.............. IMO

I saw it and I thought it was alright - it could have been a lot better and the latter half of the movie sucked for me....

Still - I thought Routh was a decent Superman although he had no chemistry with Kate Bosworth

wow relax...its a movie. its so funny seeing people talk about how that its not realistic and blah blah blah. 90% of movies are unrealistic so i don't know where you are going here. Even movies base on a true story are probably half true with the other half with hollywood BS.

I've been in the restraunt business i'm i suppose to bash Waiting because its so inaccurate about servers? I've also done telemarketing i'm i gonna bash Boiler Room for being so far off the telemarketing business?

I'd have to disagree with you there. I've worked in many restaurants, and while Waiting overdramatizes the job just a bit, I've seen, in a real restaurant, everything in the movie except for the employees showing each other their penises. Being a stockbroker is nothing like telemarketing. Boiler Room was actually a good representation of the young punks that come into the business. While the scam the company was pulling could never happen in real life, the characters were dead on with the people I met while going through stockbroker training.

The movie has obviously done well at the box office with a five day opening of $84.2 million, but not nearly as good as Spiderman 2's $152.4 million 5 day opening exactly two years ago.

                        Re: Superman Returns

IMHO, they really should have approached the Superman movie with a global perspective. Address questions like how the world has changed, how Superman is a detriment to the world these days, how he is a benefit, etc.

Instead we get more of a romance between Lois and Superman and these ideas only superficially addressed (mostly through Lois, while on the other hand the whole world is GLAD he's back with only a passing remark on that, and no explanation for it at all). It's neither deep nor as entertaining as it should be, IMHO.

I think if they had gone into some ideological stance, addressed why Superman is there in the first place, instead of broaching it and then dropping it, Superman Returns would have been a lot more focused, a lot more heartfelt, and just a whole lot better.

Batman Begins succeeded because they focused on the growth of Batman and his ideology. Superman Returns just barely grazes the topic, and that was a major disappointment overall for me. I couldn't care less for Lex Luthor as the villain. I hated the way he got his money back, and his overall scheme was really contrived and irrelevant to defining Superman and his relation to the world.

I enjoyed the movie based on the fact it was a Superman movie, but it really could have been a lot better than it was.

IMO that would've made the movie a bit too dark. A world without Superman would be over run with criminals and the world would be plunged into an almost dystopian state. Do you really want to see a world plunged into that kind of chaos? (tho granted it'd be a bit more realistic)

Pretty much, which is why I really enjoyed the movie. It was an escape from the depressing nature of the world today. I don't want to go see a superhero movie that mirrors real life but a bit exaggerated. I want to see something where the good guys win in the end and to re-affirm the goodness in mankind even tho supes is an alien.

As I was reading your opinion on the movie I was thinking, "Hmmm.....there is actually someone who saw this overrated mess (IMO) the same way I did", and then shockingly at the very end of your analysis you say you LIKE the flick because it was a "Superman movie". Sadly I think neovsmatrix isn't the only one to give "Superman Returns" a pass. There is a lot a loyalty for this character. My brother, who was obviously underwhelmed by the movie, would not say that he did not like it.
