yeah, that's what I was thinking about Zod as well. If they did a Darkseid movie, it would have to have tons of special effects if they wanted to show Apokolips correctly. Money might be right with Brainiac, I might like that better than another Zod story.

Re: Superman Returns
Awesome news about the sequel. I for one LOVED Superman Returns, and absolutely can not wait until it is released on DVD.
With the "baddie" in the sequel, I agree that it will likely be either Zod or Brainiac. I'd love to see Darkseid, but that doesn't seem likely that they would bring Darkseid into the mix already. I HOPE one day we get to see a Superman movie involving Doomsday and the death of Superman, as I think that would be simply amazing to see on the big screen.
I also agree with you Sportsman. I loved how story and character driven Superman Returns was. They didn't go with just an all out "watch what Superman can do with all of his powers", which was great. And when they did use his powers, it seemed like they were actually necessary. For example, his freeze breath on the fire, the eye beam to destroy the falling glass, etc. I also felt like there were many "moments" in SR that were very iconic, much like Reeves in the original Superman flying into space at the end. Obviously, one of these moments in SR is when Routh does the same at the end, but a couple others also stuck out. For example, when he catches the car and winds up in the same pose as Action Comics #1, and also when he flies up to the sun to regenerate. I don't know why, but when he regains his strength by absorbing the suns rays, I get bigtime chills.
Anyway, enough of me talking. To make it short, I can't wait for the DVD of Superman Returns, and I can't wait for a future sequel!Comment

Re: Superman Returns
While its most probable that it is Brainiac or Zod, the use of "ultimate villian in the DC universe" has me intrigued.

Re: Superman Returns
By saying DC's universe, I would love for it to be Darkseid because he really is the biggest villian for the whole universe IMO. That would be a crazy movie for sure if it had Darkseid and all his henchmen.Last edited by aukevin; 10-27-2006, 11:58 PM.

Re: Superman Returns
I'm guessing because really the only big Superman villians are Luthor, Darkseid, Zod, and Brainiac. There's Doomsday, but he's just mindless rage. I think it would hard for him to be anymore than a tool of a villian in a movie. Superman's other villians like Parasite, Metallo, Mongul, etc just don't scream big time movie villian to me.

Re: Superman Returns
I wish they would just straight up copy the comic books. The whole death/return of superman series was awesome. I would love to watch Superman fight Doomsday on the big screen. It would be like a 30 min battle scene.
