Anyone worried that Sawyer is going to be killed off since he got his revenge against the "real" Sawyer? Kinda like Ecko was killed off after his encounter with his brother.

Not really, since Ecko's brother was the "monster" and the "real" Sawyer was really there.Comment

Not worried, but it should happen. Its almost like these people are all in an institution and once they excercise their demons, they are released(killed off). Locke reminds me of the patient that does so well with his therapy that he actually secures a spot on the staff(welcomed by the others).Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment

Re: ***LOST Official Season 3 Discussion**** (Contains West Coast spoilers)
Did we discuss what Juliet said to Jack along the lines of "We should tell her," after Kate came snitching? Jack said not yet, what are they talking about? Kate being pregnant? Jack knowing they are coming to snatch the mothers? I wish it was Jack who Desmond kept seeing die, can't stand that guy.
I don't think this has anything to do with abduction. It could be her being pregnant, but I have a hard time thinking it's that as well because Juliet is trying to get a sample to find out if Kate is pregnant. If Juliet already knew then she would have been told Ben instead of playing a waiting game that serves little purpose to anyone.
My thinking is it has to do with being rescued or finding a way off the Island. Both Jack and Juliet didn't seem too excited or thrilled about the newcomer. The old Jack would have been rushing to the scene to find out more because he could head home. Instead, he walked off gingerly as if there isn't a potential opportunity to be saved.
The only reason I can come up with for someone to not care about a potential rescue is their belief that they have a better plan in place."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

It doesn't seem to make a lot of sense to have people being killed off on purpose just to teach someone how to deal with their inner demons.
Dr. Alpert's comments alone make me believe that this isn't an institution. He was believably concerned with Ben's direction on fertility (it's a real issue on that Island). An institution and it's members wouldn't care about a side story if it was about people dealing with their inner problems.
Whatever is going on is more real than experimental."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. I really think that getting Locke to kill his father destroys any theories that they are in some experiment, institution, or anything of that sort.

The preview of next week also made it look like Ben could open a door and show them all sorts of things. I don't think that everything you are seeing happening on the island is there, but rather incarnations.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment

I'm not so sure that Locke's father was there in the physical sense. Remeber, Ben said to Locke, that the others didn't bring Locke's father there, Locke did.
The preview of next week also made it look like Ben could open a door and show them all sorts of things. I don't think that everything you are seeing happening on the island is there, but rather incarnations.
I don't think there is anything fantastical going on. I believe Cooper's words more than I believe Ben's. Ben is a genius of words and a manipulative man that enjoys mind games. Mr. Cooper was a scared piece of crap that thought he died when he got into a car accident.
We saw what the Others were capable of when they killed Juliet's husband with a bus. To setup a crash so that they could transport Mr. Cooper to the Island and have Locke kill him doesn't seem out of the ordinary in my opinion.
But, I think we just disagree on that. It's what makes Lost so fun to watch.
edit: I'm sure we'll learn a lot more next week when the "Man Behind the Curtain" is finally revealed."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. Re: ***LOST Official Season 3 Discussion**** (Contains West Coast spoilers)
I'm sure Sawyer will get killed off towards the end of the show. It pisses me off that they started to turn him into a likable character - he was so much better in Season 1. Typical move, have the biggest a-hole that the audience hates turn into a nice guy that the audience loves and then kill him off.
It wouldn't surprise me if Noami is an Other. It was a little too coincidental that Mikael just happened to be walking through the jungle and stumbled upon her right when she was in dire need of medical attention. It was as if her drop was planned and Mikael was told to stand by in case she was injured in the fall. She's so friggen hot, btw.
Kate spilling the beans to Jack was stupid and annoyed the hell out of me, it seemed like a forced action to get the story line moving. Given everything that was going on on the Island, Kate finally being open with Jack seemed extremely out of place to me. Plus Jack didn't act too surprised when he heard the news about Noami, as if Juliet already told him she'd be on the Island.
I'm sure Juliet and Jack were referring to Kate's pregnancy with the, "Should we tell her?" line. Like fistofrage said, Jack is has been so damn annoying these last couple weeks. His character has done a 180 in the last two months, he went from being a badass to total herb. Besides Charlie (is he gonna get killed yet or what?!), Jack is the last guy I want to see on my TV right now when this show is on.
Also, every episode that has Locke in it is amazing. When it's all said and done he'll probably end up as my favorite character since they turned Sawyer into a skirt, although he was pretty badass again in last night's ep."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

That being said, isn't the guy that plays Alpert not the best actor in the world for him? When I see Alpert I think of door-to-door salesman. The actor has that look down to a tee. It's perfect when you consider that Alpert is basically el numero uno when it comes to convincing people to come to the Island.
It didn't take much for him to convince Locke to find a way to kill his dad either. He's exceptionally trained in convincing people to do what he desires. Interesting character, though I don't know how much of an impact he really has on the show besides being the recruiter.
(also, not sure if I remember correctly, but didn't Juliet first take a flight before jumping onto the sub to get to the Island? I'm not sure if Alpert being there is to show us that the Others aren't exactly without communication to the outside world or if it's to show us how convincing he can be)"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. Re: ***LOST Official Season 3 Discussion**** (Contains West Coast spoilers)
Interesting find from Lostpedia (the best source for everything Lost).
Moments later, when Sun goes to see him, she interrupts Mr. Paik having a conversation with his associates. The conversation is notably not subtitled despite all other Korean conversations being so in the episode. Translation has revealed that Paik was arguing about forged shipping documents which they were supposed to provide for the Hanso Foundation (or possibly vice versa). Paik warns that they must provide the equipment soon or their friends will become very annoyed (or possibly he will become very angry).
The Hanso Foundation is the company that financed the DHARMA Initiative.
So, it appears that Mr. Paik (Sun's father) is at least for now, indirectly related to the DHARMA Initiative. No word yet on whether he is directly connected. Until future episodes.
edit: Well that didn't take long. More research suggests that they are directly connected.
Paik Heavy Industries had built a custom ship for the Hanso Group.
MITTELWERK: Minsu, so great to see you.
MINSU: Dr. Mittelwerk. Good to see you too. Mr. Paik sends his warmest regards.
MITTELWERK: He's just saying that because we've paid him so much money.
MINSU: Ah. I see that it's straight to business.
MITTELWERK: As always.
MINSU: I think you'll be pleased to hear your ship is almost ready; with all the modifications. But I have to warn you - this kind of ship can't dock just anywhere.
MITTELWERK: We have a port. How long will it be?
MINSU: I'd say no sooner than three weeks.
MITTELWERK: Could you pass the pepper? So what will it take to make it 2 weeks?
Mittlewerk is President and Chief Technologist of the Hanso Foundation.
Minsu is unknown at this point in time but it is assumed he is an employee for Paik Industries.
(Btw, for those confused, this is what you get when you combine information from the Lost Experience and Lost (the series).
Paik Heavy Industries (aka Paik Motors, Paik Automotive) (Hangul Korean: 백중공업) is Mr. Paik's South Korea-based company. After returning from the Island, Mr. Paik's daughter, Sun, bought a controlling interest in the company and is now managing director. In the ARG The Lost Experience, Paik Heavy Industries had a sinister connection to the Hanso Foundation. In "D.O.C.", the logo in Mr. Paik's office bore the words "Paik Heavy Industries" in Korean. I don't know what's going on, but if the numbers are no longer an issue and the fact that season 2 was basically a bunch of non-sense that could have been summed up easily with a 2 hour episode, I am sure the writers are constantly changing the direction of this show.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment

Re: ***LOST Official Season 3 Discussion**** (Contains West Coast spoilers)
I would assume so. Because there is no way a sub that size would be the main transport from the pacific Northwest to that island. Another thing that has always bothered me is Echo's brother's plane. There is no physical way possible for a plane that size to go from Africa to the Pacific.
I don't know what's going on, but if the numbers are no longer an issue and the fact that season 2 was basically a bunch of non-sense that could have been summed up easily with a 2 hour episode, I am sure the writers are constantly changing the direction of this show.
It introduced the mysteries of the Island. We got a better look at the Smoke, we understood there were stations on the Island, there was an Initiative studying something there (the something is already known through the Lost Experience), and there was a confirmation of people that had lived there for years, if not centuries (thanks to the giant statue).
The only reason Season Three is so great is because it's finally answering the questions from Season Two. 2 was more of an introduction to what is going to happen in Lost.
I agree the writers have changed direction, but I know they didn't change story direction. They just needed to give viewers information pieces at a time.
Season 1 was about crashing on the Island and trying to survive.
Season 2 was about the mysteries of the Island
Season 3 is about the Others.
In fact, I think Season Three has moved faster because of two reasons.
1) Fans want answers
2) Fans are leaving the show.
When fans want answers and they are leaving the show because they are tired of waiting then it's going to force the writers to pick up the pace. Lost has been talked about being 7 seasons long. All of a sudden it's now 5."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. Season Two is definitely the most unimportant of the three seasons, but I wouldn't consider it a waste.

They were throwing too many garbage episodes our way for this to go on for 7 seasons. Too many walks through the jungle, flashbacks from characters like Anna Lou Chia Pet that really didn't have any relevance. The whole Rose and her husband and she hasn't been seen since. And then the last 2 clowns that they buried alive. They were milking the series and people got fed up.
I just think there will be some pretty lame explanations and some things left unexplained. They focused so much on the numbers both on and off the island, for them to abandon that from the story line almost makes them lose credibility.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment
