Re: ***LOST Official Season 3 Discussion**** (Contains West Coast spoilers)

Finally watched it last night, loved it. It's so nice to see some of the story actually starting to come together. I loved how they showed Julie's progression from the time she was dropped off up until the start of season 3 (book club, plane crash). Good way to tie things together. I also think the rope tie is symbolic in some strange way, the camera wouldn't have stayed focused on it so long if it wasn't. After it showed her face at the end and panned up to her tying the knot, I thought she was hiding some type of poisonous gas or some other kind of weapon and then it just ended, I remember thinking, hmm, that was odd.

Next week looks good too. Without a doubt my favorite show on TV.

And they've also stated in their podcasts that they do have a finite story arc crafted for the show and they do know how it's going to end. Whether or not you believe them is one thing, but given the number of loose ends that have already been tied up this season, I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt at this point. I wavered on that notion during season 2, but they're actually paying off a number of loose ends that I thought would never get solved in this season (the cable on the beach, Paulo going to the bathroom at the Pearl station, etc).

Also, with regard to movies being "written and complete," it's worth noting that the writers on Casablanca were working about three days ahead of the production staff as the scenes were filmed. So that method can work too.

It's great that you're really delving into the world of Lost (and honestly, I wish I were smart enough to find some of the things that the posters here have found), but seriously, the knot in reality, was an 8. One has to turn that screen around to "MAKE" it an infinity sign. THAT'S why I think you're reading too much into it. You can twist and turn and criss cross everything on that show to make it "mean" something. But IMO, that's reading TOO much into every imagery of this show.

And let's say for the sake of argument, that it WAS meant to be an infinity sign. Juliette was the one to tie that knot. And what does that have to do with her? You mention this time travel aspect, but that's Desmond's character, and I think it would've meant something had HE tied that knot. What does infinity have to do with HER? Because she's been on that island 3 years and can't get off?

I agree, if anything, that knot meant that she has Jack in locked in her trap and she's tightening the noose.....

Because Juliet is somehow stuck in time.

A couple of things people ignored.

              1) Dr. Alpert said, "You'd be surprised how fast time flies."

Considering that Juliet is drenched in time, I don't know how those words can be ignored. Everything about Juliet concerns time. How long she's been on the Island, How long till her sister gives birth, How long she was to initially stay on the Island, and there are more that escape me. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if Stephen King's Dark Tower Series has a connection to this time situation - though, only in an Easter Egg kinda way. I don't expect to see Stephen King pop up from a hatch and talk about how he studied everyone on that Island so he could write a great book.

              2) Mothers that give birth die on that Island. Perhaps, it's a stretch because Claire is fine and her reaction was created by the Others, but it's still something to think about.

Why is Rousseau ok? And why haven't the Others gone after her considering she gave birth to a healthy baby girl 16 years ago?

It's a confusing thing because Danielle would be the perfect test subject. It only leads me to believe that we desperately need a Rousseau flashback (which I believe we do get very soon) to understand what's really happening with her and Alex.

And finally, on a separate note, I know someone mentioned the black smoke being important, but I leaning toward Ben's tumor being more important. Ben is the only one that has cancer on that island. The Others have pretty much confirmed they can heal the damn thing - and lets not forget about Rose (why the hell hasn't she been in Season Three?).

There has to be a strong significance to Ben having cancer on an Island that is supposed to heal that sort of thing. Then, magically, a plane with a doctor that can remove the cancerous tumor crash lands on the Island?

I would say something is up, but that would just be repetitive when it comes to Lost.
