Re: Official Blu-Ray & HD-DVD Thread
I just checked, Artisan is with Lionsgate, who is Blu Ray only. They released Stir of Echos already on Blu Ray.
Blu Ray will probably win when it's all said and done. I think High Definition DVD (meaning HDDVD and BD) sold better than most though, including myself. I thought both would fail, but both are selling at a pretty good clip, especially with online retailers. Brick and mortrar places are still pretty clueless.Comment

I would love to just see Sony and Toshiba just combine the best of both technologies working together to pioner the HiDef DVD era.I just checked, Artisan is with Lionsgate, who is Blu Ray only. They released Stir of Echos already on Blu Ray.

Re: Official Blu-Ray & HD-DVD Thread
Combine what though? Both technologies are so similar no one can tell movies apart that are on both formats. HD-DVD used to have better coding for their films, now BD uses the same formats. Sound, very, very similar, HDDVD has a slight edge since most of their films use True Dolby HD, and I don't believe many BD's have yet.
Overall, they are the same. Just different companies trying to make a buck.Comment

Re: Official Blu-Ray & HD-DVD Thread
At this point it has to be one or the other, no way will they alienate people that have already purchased HD-DVD or BluRay players by introducing a new format. I think digital distribution is the future for games and movies anyhow, having physcial media is so 2000's.Comment

Overall, they are the same. Just different companies trying to make a buck.I'm sorry for not being clear. I was thinking that if both Toshiba and Sony worked together to support one format (BD or HD-DVD) mixing the technologies of both formats together than it could help push the HD format further. At this point it has to be one or the other, no way will they alienate people that have already purchased HD-DVD or BluRay players by introducing a new format. EG, you say that both formats are similar......yes, but there are a few things that HD-DVD does that BD doesn't and vice versa. Why not integrate the best of those features into one format or the other as a combined effort.
Again, this won't happen and is a pipe dream of mine.Comment

Re: Official Blu-Ray & HD-DVD Thread
I own Babel, but haven't watched it yet. If you watch it and like it, you should definitely check out 21 Grams too.
....which, sadly, is not available in HD yet.Last edited by Skerik; 03-05-2007, 03:57 PM.Helen: Everyone's special, Dash.
