The movies themselves are exact though.
Well that's what matters most, haha. Thanks again dude.

There are instances of BD-J in blu-rays already (Weeds: Season One, Pirates of the Caribbean movies, etc.). It's more of a hardware than software issue at this point.

Starz to Unleash 'Halloween,' 'Evil Dead 2,' 'Dawn of the Dead' on Blu-ray

Nearly a month after formally announcing its support of the Blu-ray format, Starz Home Entertainment says it will release four horror film classics as its first Blu-ray titles.

As we originally reported last month, Starz (formerly Anchor Bay) had been expected to launch its Blu-ray support with its 'Masters of Horror' anthology. Not to worry, 'Masters of Horror' is still bound for Blu-ray beginning in mid-October, but in a surprise announcement, it turns out four other titles will hit store shelves first.

Arriving in stores October 2, the distributor will unleash John Carpenter's 'Halloween,' the horror-comedy 'Evil Dead 2' and two installments in George A. Romeo's original "Living Dead" franchise, 'Dawn of the Dead' and 'Day of the Dead' in first-ever high-def versions.

Tech specs will include full 1080p video transfers (codec TBA), and Starz has also elected to go with uncompressed PCM soundtracks for the audio.

No supplemental details have yet been revealed. Note also that all four of the titles have been released in prior "Director's Cut" and extended editions on DVD, but no information is yet available on exactly which version(s) of the films will make Blu-ray.

Starz has set a suggested $29.98 list price for each title.

Well...........this is excellent news to me to have 3 of my favorite franchises in hidef. Now there is no way I'm getting rid of the DVD versions though since I have the Halloween 20th Anniv, Evil Dead 2 - Book of the Dead ed, and 4 Disc Dawn of the Dead sets.

I have both "Book of the Dead" versions of the 'Evil Dead' series and my three and a half year old is scared to death of them! First it was the screaming they make, and then, after months of peace, I watch the first Harry Potter with him, and the book that screams in the restricted section in the movie has brought back his nightmares!

                Oh well...they are great movies!

I have both "Book of the Dead" editions also, but I'm more excited for the Romero Dead movies coming to BD.

That has to suck, your poor son is scared of those screams. Once a kid is scared of something, its literally hard to break them of it.

I can't see the benefit in any of these movies in Blu-ray. I have the 2 disc LE of Halloween that has the director's cut and original cut, it's individually numbered, no chance I get rid of it.

I guess it'll be out near the release of 'Ratatouille', so it's not too bad...

We all really enjoyed it...definately one of Pixar's best! The whole dialogue at the end with Anton Ego was quite deep for an animated film (but it's Brad Bird, and with 'The Iron Giant' and 'The Incredibles' I've come to expect thought provoking stories from him).

My son is still talking about the movie...he especially liked the whole lightning sequence at the start!

Denon Announces Flagship DVD-3800BDCI Blu-ray Player

Following weeks of rumors, Denon Electronics today announced that its DVD-3800BDCI Blu-ray player will hit stores this fall, including some of the most advanced features yet seen in a next-gen player.

Retailing for $1,999, Denon says the high-end DVD-3800BDCI will be the first Blu-ray player to hit the market with the Realta HQV video processor, which allows for advanced video clean-up of even the best high-def signals.

The deck also includes full 1080p output and decoding for all current high-resolution audio formats, including Dolby TrueHD, DTS HD Lossless Master Audio and uncompressed PCM, with output up to 7.1 channels.

But perhaps most exciting for early adopters, the DVD-3800BDCI will be among the first Blu-ray players on the market to support BD-ROM Version 1.1, aka it will boast dual built-in audio/video decoders to take advantage of picture-in-picture content encoded on Blu-ray discs. That will allow the deck to play back In-Movie Experience-type features that have long been a mainstay on the rival HD DVD format. (Though there are currently no Blu-ray titles available that include picture-in-picture features, the major studios are expected to begin announcing discs with such content as players capable of accessing them begin to hit the market.)

Denon has not yet announced an exact street date for the DVD-3800BDCI outside of the fall timeframe. We'll keep you posted as further release information is unveiled.
