LG has one already if you feel like spending around $1,100 on it. Or you could spend $100 more (total) and have a 360 with an HD-DVD add-on and a PS3.

I'm not really sure why people who've already started to buy HD discs on either side are eagerly awaiting the combo player. Because if the price of the LG player is any indication, they'll have a long way to fall before they become as affordable as a PS3 or the 360/HD-DVD combo. And with that setup, you can play games on both consoles too.

If your format of choice dies, you might as well just buy the console you don't have....

Space is my issue. I have a 360, Cable Box, DVD recorder, HD-DVD player, Home Theater and my Entertainment Center is pretty much full. I dont game enough to justify a PS3. I dont care about the Show, God of War or Metal Gear so as a gaming machine its useless to me. Plus I wouldnt buy the combo players at $1100. Within the next 2 yrs, I think the player will be around the 400-500 range or less and I would consider it then. I would then sell my 360 add on becaue I wouldnt need it anymore.

Anchor Bay has released excellent DVD's, BUT, big but here, nothing in their catalog is what you'd call HD quality stuff. I mean, is the original Halloween really going to impress anyone in HD?

I'll be watching to see the prices with these as well.

The flaw with that is, unfortunately, gaming doesn't stagnate and you'll eventually have to buy the next-gen console. Who KNOWS what format will rule the roost in two/three years!

I'm with an earlier post that stated the "Heroes" HD-DVD release as the one that will force the add-on for 360. Until then, Blu-ray FTW!

I agree, which is probably why Masters of Horror (a more recent series) is the flagship launch title.

Not gonna move units though, it hasn't sold well on DVD due to it's horrible price structure. At least season 2 works a lot better than season 1 did.

Too much of a niche to really matter.

A horrible remake gets a most likely horrible sequel direct to DVD, HD, and BD. It's going to be a choose your own adventure on HD and BD.... hopefully they have a branching option to make the movie good or find the plot

can the players handle this copy protection? Seems like ones all ready out couldn't, since they just finalized it, right?

As with most things nowadays, a firmware update should do the trick for 85% of the hardware.

Buena Vista Officially Announces Unrated 'Badder Santa' & original Scary Movie for Blu-ray

This is why I stopped posting announcement retractments. A TON of blu-ray titles have been announced, yanked, and then officially announced.

Sony Increases Dolby TrueHD Support, Introduces New Subtitle Feature with 'Immortal Beloved' Blu-ray

In addition to a English Dolby TrueHD track, which Sony has already introduced on a couple of notable previous Blu-ray releases (including 'Stomp the Yard' and the blockbuster 'Ghost Rider'), 'Immortal Beloved' will also boast TrueHD tracks in both French and Spanish -- a first for a domestic Blu-ray or HD DVD release.

Even more innovative is a user-controlled subtitle feature, which allows the viewer to adjust the position of text based on display format. As has often been common with films like 'Immortal Beloved' shot in a wide 2.35:1 aspect ratio, subtitles often "bleed" into the letterbox ares of the picture, which many consumers find distracting, and (in case of those with large front-projector set-ups with variable aspect ratio screens) can cause the subtitles to be partially or completely cut off during display.

For movies on both formats, I will buy HD-DVD too. Mainly because I can control my HD player with my regular TV remote.

Well now that Blockbuster won't be stocking HD-DVD anymore I guess I won't be buying the add-on for my 360 and will just wait until I get the PS3 to make the HD jump for DVD's.

Get Netflix, and get all the HD-DVD's you need. Don't get the going to a brick and mortar store to rent movies anymore.

Well the problem is I got a good system going on with Blockbuster in getting movies (3) from their online, then watching on the weekend, then return to the store, get 3 movies, watch during the week, new online movies show up about Wednesday for the weekend, etc etc.
