With the cheapest BD player at $379, it might draw some people............but could have been better at $299 for them.

I don't know anymore, I just wish this battle would just end already. I think hardware sales this Christmas will go to HD-DVD with all these ongoing sales. HD-DVD camp will have to do something big this Christmas if they want to more than just jump start the HD-DVD brand with a bit more than the cheap hardware.

BTW, Tremors was released this week on HD-DVD and the picture for a 17 year old movie looks excellent.

I agree, HD DVD will move much more SA hardware this holiday season.

Regaining or maintaining the lead is obviously about securing & releasing titles. Yet, studio support can be such a superficial asset at times, as some studios like Universal have an agressive release strategy compared to others.

Universal hasn't stopped with the movie support like you said and they have been dumping title after title, being catalog or day/date releases. Their catalog titles are some of the best releases you will see in high definition.

Now Paramount is releasing title after title also on HD-DVD, it's helping make the format look more attractive than it once did.

I wish Weinstein would come out already and say what their doing. They completely have stopped releasing titles.

MGM continues to cancel BluRay titles..........and now rumors of Independence Day possibly getting delayed by FOX is surprising.

Right now I see FOX the only studio for BluRay that continues to pump title after title well into December. Where is the support from the rest of them, not couting Disney since they just released a few titles.

Once again, I agree. If every blu-ray exclusive studio put out at Universal's level, the gap would be a lot wider for BR.

Buy Two, Get One Free Blu-Ray deal @ Amazon (WB, Lionsgate, Disney, Sony Pictures, etc.)

          Happy Thanksgiving, fellas.

That deal is also for HD-DVDs (obviously not the same studios).

Sweet, thanks! Picked up 3 HD-DVD's. Nothing peaked my interest on the Blu-ray side.

I personally would stay away from Sony receivers, except for maybe their new high end model. The Onkyo 605 is probably the best "bang for your buck" entry level receiver that has HDMI 1.3 and allows for full passthrough.
Argh, I hate you and Jigsaw

I just ordered the Onkyo 605, it looks fantastic. I don't imagine that I'll have >2 HDMI inputs at any point in the near future, so I'll be fine with that limitation. DTS-HD and Dolby True-HD were big advantages and you're absolutely right, its the best bang for the buck. I ended up getting it for 425 dollars on Amazon, which seemed to be a decent deal. I gotta stop buying this stuff though while I'm taking out a lot of student loans though!

The A3 on Amazon dropped to 160 bucks, so I gotta take care of that refund with Amazon.

I have an old Sony receiver that was pretty sweet in 2002 that I need to move somewhere eventually. It's lack of HDMI inputs really made it necessary for me to move up. My parents will find something to do with it, I hope so.

                    LOL! The Onkyo's are good.

Slayer, if anyone were to ever doubt Universal, I suggest they pop in the movie Tremors. For a movie from 1990, the PQ is purely amazing and Universal did a good job on the transfer. Universal doesn't play around with their releases.

Even if Universal supported blu-ray, I wouldn't check out Tremors. lol. Point taken, though.

For the record, ordered Saw II, Unforgiven, and A Scanner Darkly.

Let me know how Scanner Darkly is, I was wondering if it was any good. These are some impressive deals.

                            From someone on HighDefDigest:

In todays Fry's ad they have the Spider-man Trilogy on blu-ray for $44.99, today only. I'm assuming its in stores only as the price online was listed for $69.99.
