I read The Screwtape Letters in college. That was the first C.S. Lewis book I read. He's a great writer/thinker.

That he is, one of my favorite. I love reading his books.

No bomb making for me, Im a Pacifist after taking all these classes. My majors are Engineering Management (like Industrial Engineering) and Economics with Finance Applications.

We have to take these Cultural Foundations classes, most of them are just advanced History, Anthropology, or Religious Classes but that's also where you here people taking a class on a really weird topic.

On class is called The Mathematical Experience which is basically the History of math and how different proofs came about. In that class we only read parts of the 700pg Godel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid.

My bomb class Nuclear Physics & Society I think we may not end up having to read all of Megawatts and Megatons. That's a very technical and hard to follow book. Dark Sun seems interesting, it tells the story of the Manhattan Project form the Soviet spy's perspective. Their first Hydrogen Bomb was a carbon copy they had everything we knew. So basically it tells both sides at once. There are lots and lots of names and of course foreign. We haven't started the Oppenheimer book yet.

But the reading in these two classes is nothing. I had the same type of class called Warfare in the Modern World which dealt with war from the late 18th century - WWII. That class ended up being 97.95% WWII. We only meet once a week and the reading was sometimes a book a week. We would have 25-40 question quizes over the reading and he wanted FACTS (dates, places, people, # of troops, # of deaths, famous quotes, unique weapon just a whole lot of MFBS) Our final was about 160 question and everything was fair game. I got about 47 right, and the whole class got together and made study sheets for everyone. Most people were in the 80's-90's on correct answers and one person had 120 something. I guess he would have curved it but he recorded our literal grades on that test. Then there was the 17-21 page final essay. I was pretty defeated at that point, it wasn't a good semester academically or socially and I did maybe 12 pages and turned it in 4 days late. Needless to say I have very unattractive F on my transcript because of that class. But allow me to humor you some more with the reading from that class.
