Re: iPhone on June 29.
Yes. There is a lot of speculation that since AT&T isnt subsidizing these phones and are requiring the customer to foot the whole bill for the phone up front (like in Europe), the plans will actually be cheaper...
I'm a little hesitant though.
My AT&T rep told me they would have the price plans this Wednesday afternoon.Comment

Re: iPhone on June 29.
I think the 599 price is the sticking point. Most people say that's pretty good for what they get. But it's rumored that Apple's cost on the iphone is $250.
I think the thing that will push everyone away is paying the same price for both voice and data. That's 80 bucks a month plus some more for tax. I think there is going to be a special iphone rate because of how integrated this fun will be. It just doesn't seem like the normal plans will work. And maybe the iphone will push the industry to offer voice w/ data plans.
I'm not going to get an iPhone if I have to pay more then my current rate. Paying 600 for a phone is crazy enough and if I have to pay 70 or more for voice and data that's not really worth it.
You would have to think that Apple knows this as well. People will by Apple stuff whatever the price but the sticking point for Apple is the service plans.
I wonder if the reason for not publishing the monthly plans this late is because they are still being negotiated. Or that the price is so high it will kill the iPhone buzz.Comment

Apple announces rate plans for the iPhone
Apple has released details of the service plans that will be available for the iPhone. Six special monthly plans are available: - $59.99 for...
- $59.99 for 450 voice minutes
- $79.99 for 900 voice minutes
- $99.99 for 1,350 voice minutes
All three plans include unlimited data (email & web), Visual Voicemail, 200 SMS text messages, roll over minutes and unlimited mobile to mobile calling. Plans have a $36 one-time activation fee and are two year contracts. Family plans will also be available, but were not disclosed at this time. In addition, any standard AT&T service plan may be chosen.
SOLD.
I'll be there FridayComment

Re: iPhone on June 29.
There were a lot of people who thought that combination could reach close to a 100, and honestly I didnt think the price would be as low as 60. Most data plans are 30 or 40 dollars a month, and this combination brings the data plan to 20 a month.Comment

I saw the data plan is $20, which isn't bad at all IMO. The plans just for the iphone are a little high though.Comment
