Pre-order starts June 15, hits stores June 24.

"The Phone 4 will be available in black or white on June 24, and will cost $199 and $299 for 16 and 32GB if you are a new user or you are eligible for an upgrade.

If you are an existing iPhone user, the early upgrade will cost you $399 and $499. Without contract, the iPhone 4 is $499 and $599."

We already showed you the new iPhone from every angle, inside and out. Today, Steve Jobs re-revealed it, telling us about the remaining details. Here's

          Re: iPhone Discussion Thread

I'm really liking the new tech they're adding, but I can't believe they kept the same screen size. Every new, high-end smartphone has a larger screen. 3.7, 4.3 and 5 inch screens are quickly becoming the norm.

Apple said this new retina display technology is better than AMOLED displays, but i'm curious to see if its better than the super AMOLED screens that are now being rolled out.

Another thing i'm disappointed in is that you can only make video calls with other iphone 4 users over wifi. Why not allow for skype video calls to someone on a PC? I believe you can do this with the EVO 4G.

I'm sure the companies or developers who release the appshave the ability to include that as an option. There will be companies that pick up that ball.

On another note, does the upgrade eligibility count after one year or is it those who are strictly 3G users? If this allows me to upgrade to the 4 with the $199 & $299 price, I'm still game. If not, I'll wait for the "5" to make it's debut.

Man I hope my upgrade is every 18 months and not every 24. I've never had an iPhone before, but I'm not gonna drop $400-$500 for one.

Apple has the perfect marketing campaign, reminding me a bit of NIKEs W&K. I don't even qualify for a cancellation on my current carrier and Apple has me so interested. Without the WWDC, i think these gadgets would be like all the other releases around. Whens the last time you saw a press conference for a new GPS, a new dishwasher, a new car engine? From a marketing standpoint, I remain in awe of their sheer power.

Is there going to be an update for 2nd gen touch? Sorry I'm out of the loop, lol.

If there is, hopefully I don't have to pay for it. I had to wait about a year just to get the last update for free.

apple won't allow it. If an app duplicates functionality in a native app, it usually won't get approved.
