So it seems like it's hit or miss. Some people are getting the chance to upgrade early for $200 less, bringing the prices for the 3Gs to $400/$500.

The 3.0 firmware released to devs doesn't really contain anything newer from the last beta build. I'm actually a bit disappointed. Seems stable.

I'm pretty annoyed the 3Gs also is still using 802.11b/g for wireless. I would've bet anything that we were going to see an upgrade to N. The only speed in the 3G is the faster network (that's only in 3 areas, currently) and how quickly they take my money. Hell, they're even doing pre-orders now.

The 3Gs seems like a minor upgrade, whereas the 3G version was a huge upgrade...I don't think I'd get the 3Gs if I had the 3G, doesn't seem to be worth it for the little upgrade you get. Plus, if I want video I'll just bring my small Sony camera that gets HD video and stereo sound...not like a camcorder, but better than a phone.

I agree, the 3Gs doesn't provide much incentive for current iPhone owners to upgrade, but it's a great deal for those looking to pull the trigger on their 1st iPhone.

Honestly I feel its better than carrying a REAL camcorder or a digital camera everywhere with your phone unless you're somewhere where you really want good quality pics and video, and I'm not gon use it to capture special stuff like a wedding, graduation or whatever. But I will use it for other stuff. IDK if I can really answer ya question, When I'm getting a phone I want ALL of that type stuff in my phone (MP3 Player, Camcorder, Digital Camera, etc.) Does anybody know if the video camera is not good? or ok? or anything?

I've got Verizon too, and I would have had to pay out the *** to upgrade to the Blackberry Storm, since I still had like a year left on my contract. They have these huge marketing pushes and only offer these low subsidized 2 year contract prices to entice new customers, and really don't care how you feel about it under a contract. When the two year contract is up, they then try to keep you by giving you a discount on an upgrade. I know why they do it, but it sucks seeing an awesome phone come out every 6 months when you're stuck.

The storm isn't worth it so be happy you didn't do it. They've already ditched the "click screen" thing and are working on a redesign.

I'm really liking the 3.0 software now. I don't know what it is, but the phone overall just feels much more... "complete" with the update.

You guys are going to love it. So many little things.

The cut, copy, paste and undo are so damn well done as well. Very easy, very intuitive... to applaud a company for including something that's standard and should've been implemented a while ago... only Apple can get away with something like that.

Well I'm on the fence. I'm a day one iPhone (first gen) owner and I'm a little underwhelmed by the GS. Not at all happy with the decisions made by AT&T and I think that's why I am in the middle, still.

Yes... the jailbreak is actually complete but there is a wait to see if the final is 100% equal to the GM. It's actually not that bad but I never really used PDANet. I miss me some SlingPlayer over 3G though.

Personally, if you have a 3G I don't think there is a big enough disparity in the new hardware to upgrade. Original iPhone owners are the ones that should seriously consider doing it. 32GB's of storage for $300 minus any possible money you can make selling the original? That's a no brainer.
