Isn't AT&T/Cingular now one and the same?

If you get the iPhone you will need to find SMS texting workarounds... like using websites to send text messages. It's a bit of a pain.

You can also send emails to phones as text messages.... but not as simple as just texting to a phone number.

You have to find MMS workarounds, not SMS.

Are you sure? An "email" to a phone number and a message that gets replied to both count as email messages, not text?

If you sent a SMS to my phone, how do you do it aside from your email? That's a workaround. If you send it in the "chat" function you get charged for a text message.

I know what you're referring to with MMS. That doesn't apply here with Dook, at least I don't think it does. He hasn't mentioned one thing about picture messaging.

Ok, maybe I'm confused here, but if I want to send a text, I go to the home screen and touch the green SMS logo, then I pick your number from my contacts and then type out my text and touch send. You're saying that counts as an email? Like I said, I'm confused now.

No, that counts as a text message.

Dook wouldn't/shouldn't use that though and he can get around it by sending an email to [email protected] and it will function as a text message. BUT, he wouldn't be charged for a text message and it it will just be part of his unlimited data plan.

I'm showing he has options if he wants to save a couple of bucks a month. I can see how that gets annoying though. But hey... just trying to help.

Yes you can, I have the unlimited text deal. He's just talking about sending text messages as "e-mails" fooling the iPhone thinking you sent an email but the reciever actually gets it as a text msg, that way you aren't charged for a text...I think.

You can. Just you get 200 text messages a month unless you pay 10 bucks or whatever for unlimited text messages. Pared's just pointing out ways you can get around that using the unlimited data plan.

Doh. Yes you can... but I'm giving you an option to save you money.

You only get 200 messages. Once you go past that, I think it's $.15 per text message.

If I didn't have any music player I'd be happy with the Nano or Classic...

Now I'm having the internal debate iPhone vs. Touch. The touch screen has me mesmerized.

I'm realizing that I never use any of the online features on my current phone, in all reality I just text and make calls. While the other stuff would be nice, it's not 70+ bucks a month nice. I think I'll get the iTouch and when my phone contract expires get a free phone and a much cheaper contract through someone.

That does look so nice, but the space is an issue for me. I think I'm going to go with the 80gb Classic.

Sure, it'd be awesome...but when I got my current phone I was all hyped for the web browsing, camera phone, etc. I use none of it.

iTouch will get me into the Video generation, and probably get me into buying stuff on iTunes, without a contract locking me into anything monthly.

I am kinda lucky in that I'm only used to 4 GB on my current iPod, and don't need my entire library on there. Those used to 40 GB would be tough to cut down.
