I'm pretty sure it means that you can't delete the files from the player. lol

What that means is that you have to manage the music via iTunes, you don't have the option to delete anything through the iPod's interface. To delete a song you'd have to uncheck it in iTunes and re-sync.

If all you want it for is walking, working out, in the car, etc I'd just go with a nano (assuming that will have enough memory for you). The touch would be a waste unless you want the apps and all that. It's also bigger, so more annoying if you wanted to have a armband or something.

The shuffle doesn't have a screen, but that could work if you just want something super simple.

Thanks for the info. I knew iTunes played a part in all this but wasn't sure how. And, when I saw the "can't delete files" thing it confused the hell out of me.

Take your iPod, put it in this case-like device and boom - 3G wireless from Sprint. Would work just like the overdrive. Plus you can connect 4 other devices.

Hasn't been announced officially, but it seems all but inevitable at this point...

It's about time! You can't always be around a Wifi hotspot. Now, I would be able to bring my touch anywhere. All they have to do now, is make the next touch look exactly like the iPhone 4 and I'm good. LOL.

About the latest iPod software update, when I go to download and install it it says "updating to iOS 4.0 will delete all media, including iTunes store purchases. To preserve your media, apply this update on the computer where you sync music, videos, and photos".

And then in another paragraph below that, it says: "Updating on this computer will only preserve apps, contacts, calendars, text messages, and other settings. Please do not interrupt the update, which may take an hour or longer to complete".

So, is it safe for me to download and install this or will it delete all the music on my iPod Touch or iTunes library? BTW I don't sync my music to iTunes, I just drag and drop the songs I want in my library into there.

You can take it to Apple and they can replace the battery. Or figure out how to open it and replace it yourself.

Are there any rumors or info about the 2011 line of iPods yet?

Are they going to abandon the Classic altogether or just release the same version again and not update it? I sure hope not since it is still the only iPod that comes close to being able to store my entire collection. Seeing as this year will mark the 10th anniversary if the iPod I am hoping they actually give us an updated version of the Classic. How about a 240gb version, eh?

As for the Touch, I seriously doubt they can get away with not increasing the memory in them yet another year. Especially since other companies have announced similar products with much more space. A new 128gb Touch is pretty much imminent, but it's still too small for me. I don't care about the touchscreen, I just want the most space so I'll more than likely stick with a new Classic.

The Nano probably won't get an update since it had a major overhaul last year.

Who cares abut the Shuffle? I certainly do not.

Hopefully someone can help me out here because this is really ****ing pissing me off.

So earlier today I tried connecting my iPod Touch to my computer so I could put one song on it (just one effing song!), but my computer and iTunes weren't recognizing it. I tried a few things to fix it, but eventually just said screw it because I had things to do. Now keep in mind that I took my iPod with me and at that time it was working fine.

Anyways, I got back home and tried again to connect my iPod but again my computer and iTunes wouldn't recognize it. I went through a whole bunch of other nonsense to try and get it to work (using selective startup from msconfig, uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes, Quicktime, Apple Mobile Device Support and all those Apple things, etc.) but it didn't.

Eventually I decided to go into recovery mode and it finally recognized my iPod, but I could only restore it. I tried to restore it and when the iPod went through it's little screen seizure thing and finally got to the Apple logo with the progress bar, the bar never progressed. iTunes eventually said it couldn't restore the iPod and gave me some 1611 error BS. I tried and tried a bunch of times but it still did the same ****.

So now after about 5 hours I'm stuck with an iPod that was working, but now isn't at all. Can anybody help or am I screwed?

Seems to be your PC via USB somehow. Can you try to restore on another computer?

Yeah I Googled it, but didn't find anything that really helped me.

I've tried pretty much all my USB ports, and I have a keyboard hooked up to one that works fine. I don't have another computer but I guess I could try a friend's.
