I just linked my credit card to ITunes (had been buying redeemable cards). Where do you go to deposit a set amount of money into your account? The store is letting me purchase songs one at a time, but I don't want a bunch of 99 cent purchases showing up on my online card statement.

I've had my iPod Touch all weekend and I'll be posting my thoughts on it later today.

Very, very nice little device. I've read others are having issues with the quality of their models but thankfully I don't have the issues... or at least, if I do, I can't tell so it doesn't bother me.

And I'm a pretty picky person... like you didn't know that already.

I went to the Apple store on Saturday and checked out all the new models. I was amazed at how thin the Nanos and the Touch were. And the 160 GB classic...compared to the skinny models, that thing looked huge.

Sweet! I'm torn...part of me is tempted to get an iPhone in December when my contract ends, but the other part of me says just get a 16 GB iTouch and that will good enough (and no expensive 2 year phone contract)

I must admit I'm on the fence about keeping my Pre-Order with Apple.ca. Some of the less-than-glowing reviews and hardware problems are really worrying me because if I'm gonna spend $500 on something I expext a close to flawless product.

I have recently discovered the 30GB Archos 605 Wi-fi media player, which seems very similar to the iPod touch. It is less sexier and does not have cover flow or Safari but has a much nicer screen, and much bigger storage capacity.

From everything I've read with WiFi on you only get about one hour of battery life. Just what I've read... not sure how true that is.

The aesthetics of the thing turn me off as well. I typically prefer function over form but using an iPod for a few years now I have to say I really need a little of both...

What's wrong with the iTouch?

I'll touch upon it in my review.(No pun intended lol) In summary, viewing angles, poor battery life and apparently quality control early on.

If anyone wants to make an impulse buy, they are available at Best Buy in-store. Go to the website, place an order and check availability for in-store pickup. You can then secure your order and guarantee you get one within a day.

If you pre-ordered you'll most likely be waiting a good while longer. Apple's official street date is still Sept. 28th. I couldn't wait that long.

Also, FYI... make your purchase at BEST BUY, not an Apple store. Apple will charge you a 15% restocking fee on any open item. Best Buy has a 30 day full money back guarantee on all their MP3 players including the iPod's. They accept open box items and do not charge a "restocking" fee.

What's wrong with the iTouch?

I think these "less-than-glowing" reviews on the blogs and tech sites bash the iPods because Steve Jobs didn't perform fellatio on them.

Even non-Apple fans have to admit that Apple does a good job at offering good products that do are accessible, simple, look great and do as advertised.

iTouch, from my experience with the iPhone is a good iPod. But personally I don't think its the best iPod. The iTouch and iPhone have the same iPod system. It's not as easy to use as the iPod: Classic. The click wheel should be regarded as one of the greatest tech inventions. It so intuitive that anything that came after it would be criticized. The iTouch (iPhone's ipod player) requires a few more clicks and some things could be better layed out.

Non of these things kill the iTouch. And I think the critics want everything that comes from Apple to resemble something Jesus would have manufactured.

Back to the functionality. The iTouch/iPhone compared with the iPod:Classic requires a few more clicks. Let me try to illustrate this here.


iPod:
Let's say you are playing a songg and want to pause it. All you would have to do is click pause on the click wheel.

iTouch: To do the same thing, you need to unlock the screen since it sleeps after a few seconds. Then you can click pause. That's if you weren't going something else. On the iphone (other features of the iTouch), I'll start a playlist and let's say I'm on the Wi-Fi net. To pause the song you need to press home >> iPod >> then pause.

That's just a simple way of showing you things are still simple but not as wonderfully simple as the click wheel. I wish for the iPhone/iTouch there would be music controls so I don't have to go into the iPod section to mess around with music.

I don't think any of these complaints warrent the iTouch to be a terrible music player. The iPod was just so well designed, like I said, anything else unless it came from the hand of god was going to be excruciating over-analyzed.

I look forward to Pared's review...I might just hold off, I'd like a new music player, but my Nano's fine for now and it might make sense to let Apple work out the bugs with a first version.
