Don't feel to upset.....Sony has done the same thing with the new slim PSP. You have to buy a $40-$50 cable to get the TV out.....these companies are trying to run people dry with these accessories.

I thought we had an 'official' ipod discussion thread already, but I searched and after I got to about the 3rd page of ipod related questions, I'm creating one. I'll merge this one into that thread. I'll leave the iPhone thread open and I'll rename it too. Give me a few minutes to get it all cleaned up.

Official iPod Discussion Thread

Considering I just searched iPod title only and got an insane amt of results, I figured we needed this. Questions about iPods, adapters, cases, impressions, how do I get my music of my iPod onto my computer, etc will all go in here. I'll merge the thread about the 6G iPod's here in a few minutes. I'm going to keep the iPhone thread separate for now.

I got to play with one of the new nano's today and they're pretty slick. The video screen is much much smaller than that of a 5G Ipod Video, but the whole unit is tiny. I'm definitely gonna get one of the new ones, but don't really know if I'll go with the Touch or one of the new Nano's. I rarely watch anything more than gametrailers on my IPOD so the smaller screen doesn't bother me and I rarely use over 1 or 2 gigs on my IPod right now.

My brother got one for his birthday and it actually isn't as bad as I thought. I don't know why you would want to watch anything on that screen but it's not too bad.

I love the Ipod Touch.

Currently got a 30GB Ipod Video and only using about 8GB. I have it connected to my stereo via a dock and it works great so I'm thinking of picking up a Touch as my portable player. Leave the 30GB at home on the dock 24/7 and use the Touch around here and there.

Got one question though. Anyone that has an IPhone, how's the touch screen? Like does it get a ton of finger prints on it and get dirty all the time?

I like to keep my equipment in excellent condition in a cover, etc, and the only thing about the Touch that worries me is how bad the screen might get or possible even scratched? Do you still put a screen protector on or wouldn't it work with a screen protector on?

Apparently the iPod Touch has shipped to various Best Buy and Apple stores across America.

Some people on various boards have already bought one and started weighing in with their thoughts.

The major concern seem to be the following:
-poor audio quality (hissing) when the volume is high (above 50%)
-poor video quality in and around black colors because of a lack of definition in the picture (apparently some people do not have this problem)
-long syncing times (2-3 hours for some)

I'm gonna keep my pre-order as is but keep track of these issues and see if more crop up.

It's been posted on Engadget and Gizmodo that if you get a Touch and there are any type of video issues, it's an automatic swap at an Apple store. Apparently, they are aware of the issue.

I saw it at an Apple store when I went a couple days ago. It was alright I guess but it wasn't nice enough for me to spend money on it with its small hard drive.
