What is the worst movie you've ever seen?

I searched and didn't see a thread for this and after this weekend I had the inspiration to make this thread.

Let me nominate as the worst movie of all time, Idiocracy. For me this earned a 1* on Netflix, solely because I didn't see a way to give it a negative rating. First the reasons I had hope for it. It was written and directed by Mike Judge (Office Space, King of the Hill, Beavis and Butthead) and I have been a fan of his work. Second, it had Luke Wilson who for the most part is reliable for be in funny movies. Third, the plot seemed interesting, Wilson and Maya Rudolph's character (a hooker) take part in an experiment where they are going to be frozen for one year, but get mistakenly forgotten and wakeup 500 years in the future after a garbage avalanche. They awaken to find that people have become incredibly stupid, I am talking like Beavis and Butthead but more 'special' stupid. Up until they reach the future the movie is actually pretty funny, mainly because Mike Judge makes a good point about the dumbing down of America and evolution, but once they get to the future wow does the movie get bad.

If ever a movie cried out for you to engage in illegal activities before you watch it, it would be this movie and I don't even think that would help.

I really do dare someone to find something worse than this movie. If you haven't seen it, and I really suspect I'm in a very small minority of people who have, as bad as it is you may want to check it out. If for no other reason than it will make the next few dozen movies you watch that much better.

Re: What is the worst movie you've ever seen?

I've seen that movie "Idiocracy" and although it was pretty low brow I thought it definitely had some very funny moments. Also it was hardly "stupid" IMO considering it was making some very profound statements about society in general and it's priorities and tendencies to focus on certain things which a lot of us perceive as "stupid" but yet partake in (getting drunk and acting like a fool, riding a motorcycle around, eating at stupidly named restaurants, etc). I think it also had some very, very valid points about the direction of the human race and the reasons for it as well.

I agree it's not one of the more profound movies of all time and really is worth no more than a rental but i'd not say it was terrible or one of the worst movies ever. For that I believe you'd be referring to a movie known as "Dude where's my car" which is a heart wrenchingly bad movie in every conceivable way possible. Also if you REALLY want to go even lower than that then look for a movie called The Zodiac Killer (not the famous one with Jake Gyllelahal) as it is the most ridiculous and horrible movie ever made, bar NONE.

Re: What is the worst movie you've ever seen?

I'm only going to include movies that I've seen at the theatre. They feel worse because you actually paid money.
      • Thin Red Line
      • Fifth Element
      • Tailor of Panama
      • The Notebook
All of the above movies were a colossal waste of my time. I walked out on Thin Red Line and Tailor of Panama. Would have walked out on the Notebook but the wife liked it (in my defense I had no clue what the movie was about, it was her choice. I did go get a magazine to read.) Saw Fifth Element with friends and it was bad.

I will give one choice for a movie I saw on TV and that is The Whole Ten Yards. Everyone associated with that movie should be embarrassed by how bad it was.

War of the Worlds, Epic Movie, Reign of Fire(fell asleep for the first time in a theater), and Date Movie. I'm sure there are others but I can't think of them right now.

I see your point about the statement of the future, and believe I really worry something similar could happen down the road. That has been my biggest fear for a long time about our society. But to me that point was lost with how far it went.

I was dissapointed in Idiocracy but it was still funny. They really did go too far with the premise.

Blair Witch 2 - typical bad horror movie, but made worse because I thought the first one was an original idea

Dracula: Dead and Loving It - My best friend and I went to see this the day it came out because we were huge Mel Brooks fans and we loved the Naked Gun. Well this teaming of Mel and Leslie Nielsen was a disaster.

Thin Red Line and A.I. were both pretty boring (saw both in theater). Fifth Element is cheesy, but I think it's entertaining.

Seriously? How many movies have you seen in your lifetime? Four?

To have WotW listed as one of the worst movies you've ever seen, you must either have seen almost no movies in your lifetime or have ****ty taste.

Or I think that it was a ****ty movie. It had good special effects but that's about it. Oh yeah, King Kong is on that list too. I don't see why you're so worked up about this anyway and trying to question what movie's I've seen is ridiculous.
