      Damnit. I forgot about Conan!

I fell asleep during the WVU/OU game (heh) and didn't wake up until now.

I love Conan's beard, wish I caught the show from the beginning.

basically, he just made random jokes and referenced the strike all night. Nice move by the writers strike to get it back on tv.

Wow, Conan was struggling last night. But I was still somewhat amused. His show is goin straight to **** without his writers though. I love how he's growing his beard in honor of the strike. Is Letterman doing the same thing? He looks like Santa.

I just liked how the whole night was talking about the strike, so it's like he's being paid by NBC to come back and talk about the writer strike...at least for one night.

I was waiting for that. What a bizarre situation. In two months though, you would've thought they could've came up with a better show. I cringe to think of tonight's and the rest of the week's content.

anyone see the new daily show and colbert report?

besides referencing the strike, both of these shows seem to move on fine, since they are driven by the personality of the host.

I watched them both last night. I think they lost a little something, but after being gone for so long, I was thoroughly entertained.

I was impressed, I think mostly due to Conan being so bare bones.

Re: Will This Television Season Be Cancelled?

Multiple sites are reporting that the closed door informal negotiations between the Writers Guild and Television Producers have cleared the major hurdle in regards to internet sales and both sides are very close to a tentative agreement.

This could all fall through and they could be back at square one, but this is easily the best news we've heard since the strike started. Hopefully the end is in site.

<a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/02/business/media/02cnd-writers.html?_r=2&hp&oref=slogin&oref=slogin">New York Times Article on Progress </a>

Informal talks between representatives of Hollywood’s striking writers and production companies have eliminated the major roadblocks to a new contract, which could lead to a tentative agreement as early as next week, according to people who were briefed on the situation but requested anonymity because they were not authorized to speak.

I know people are excited about getting this done but I hope no one thinks that it'll help shows like Lost have a full season.

It's far too late for that now. What this does do is make sure that the Fall Season starts on time.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer
