I guess Up is the best looking one of last year? What else is good?
    Star Trek 09
Bourne Trilogy (came over from HD DVD)
Hot Fuzz (came over from HD DVD)
    500 Days of Summer
    Drag Me to Hell
    Zombieland
    The Hurt Locker
    The Hangover
    Terminator Salvation
    Wolverine Origins
    Inglorious Basterds
    Wizard of Oz
    Taking of Pelham 123
    Forest Gump

    I think that's a mix of 2010 and 2009 blu releases

I got the 360 HD-DVD player for like $30 as a backup. I still have almost 100 HD-DVDs. They are dirt cheap $2-4 shipped and still plentiful.

My local Wal-Mart doesn't lock up their movies anymore - they haven't for the past 6-9 months or so.

Keep in mind not all Walmarts are the same size. Mines is a super 24 hour walmart. Their electronics section consists of 8 aisles, with them being 2 aisles wide. And this particular Walmart electronic department stays PACKED after 3pm monday through friday and all day on the weekends.

So when you have 50 customers and only 5 workers in that whole department, no way they can watch 8 aisles. Kind of funny here, Blu Ray section is just one aisle, dvds are 4, music is 2 and video games are 1 aisle.

Heck theft is so bad, they even have to lock up routers and $9 gummy head phones. The town it is in is great, however the shoppers come from as far as Lansing, IL, Chicago, IL, Lake of the 4 Seasons, Gary, Portage, Valporasio, Warsaw, Lowell.......

Just to steal? Seems like they'd adopt a security system like Best Buy where you can monitor all the aisles at one time.

Walmart is too cheap for that......Best Buy is one parking lot over, their theft is very low. And yeah people come that far just to steal from that one particular Walmart, because most of those towns have Walmarts too, but theirs not a super Walmart with the grocery store inside of it and nor is it as big as this one is.

People prey upon the biggness of this particular Walmart. At any given time, about 30% of the store aisles won't have a single walmart worker in it or within 10 aisles of it. Especially toy department, sporting goods, pet department, hardware department.

So basically they are making so much money that the theft isn't that big a deal in the grand scheme of things.

Re: **Official Blu-Ray & HD-DVD Thread Part II**

                  Basically..........

For this Walmart has everything in it except a lube shop. They have the following in there:

                  Vision Center
                  Bank
                  Hair Shop
                  Pedicure & Manicure Shop
                  Mc Donalds
                  Grocery Store
Deli that sells fried chicken and ribs

Those things right there are their top earners, followed by their Electronics department. When people go to Walmart here, the 1st thing they do is stop off at either McDonalds or go to the deli and get a bucket of chicken or ibs, then start shopping while they eating their food.

Main reason why I don't buy clothes or towels from Walmart, be food stains on them. And for some reason people love to grocery shop at Walmart here.....even though you have dozen other grocery stores in the area.

I worked off and on at Sam's Club for 2 years. Decent job--have had worse. Some of the customers are jerks because they think you are a slave since they paid for membership.

The discount sucked. All you get is a free Sam's Club membership. No discount at regular walmart.

Right. Mine is the same, even has a lube shop plus all the other little shops and McDonalds etc. The only thing in the electronics department locked up are the games. They've essentially modeled their entire store experience after Target as far as I'm concerned.

I remember when I worked there, we averaged $2,000 worth of theft from dvds and games per a quarter. It got to the point now people don't even still the whole box anymore, they just pry open the box just enough to pull the disc out and put the empty box back on the shelf.

That is why they keep them locked up now.

But anyway I felt sorry for this guy when I went to Walmart last night. He just bought 2 HD DVDs from ebay and he was looking for a HD DVD player at Walmart. Associate said sir ummm we don't sell those players here at all.

He was so out of touch with the times he didn't even know Blu Ray won the format war over a year ago.
The Wal-Mart by my house has just taken the cases off of everything except for tv shows on DVD. It's alot better now since there was never anyone working the electronics section and it sucked having to hunt someone down so that they could open the case.

I worked out what I missed...

                            Buy:
                            Pushing Daisies Season 1
                            Pushing Daisies Season 2
                            Supernatural Season 4
                            Watchmen
                            Fast & Furious
                            Inglorious Basterds

                            Rent:
                            G.I. Joe
                            Coraline

                            Taking of Pelham 123
                            Terminator Salvation
                            Up
Monsters vs. Aliens (also apprently spectacular looking though I'm not sure how many of these kiddy movies I'm going to end up watching just because of that)
                            Public Enemies
                            Hurt Locker

Forgot Trick 'r Treat on my buy list.
There's another movie I'm forgetting but don't remember the name of it. It's a remake of an Italian or Spanish movie. The opening of the original starts with a news reporter in a fire station.

Looking back, the format war feels like 10 years ago. Was definitely needed to drive prices down. The "better" format won, IMO.

That being said, I'm tempted to pre-order the Karate Kid I and II boxset for $27.96 on Amazon....just in time for my b-day in May

You know what movie I was thinking would be great on Blu-ray? Blue Lagoon. Beautiful scenery and a young Brooke Shields. That just screams for blu-ray!
