All of the Pixar movies are sold out. I would've had a field day if those were available. However, I picked up the following for $23.88.

Alice in Wonderland(Depp one)
Hugo
The Thing(2011)

I think that's it for me until Black Friday unless one of those 40% off deals pops up again.

Last night my wife was out at her sister's house so I decided to head to my man cave to watch a blu-ray. I looked for a while and decided that I hadn't seen The Thin Red Line Criterion Collection on blu-ray yet. Man that was the best decision ever. I had watched it on DVD but this movie must be experienced on blu-ray.

This movie is awesome and I had forgotten how great it is. The video and sound transfer is one of if not the best I've seen on blu-ray. There's also a pop-up window in the menu that says Director Terrence Malick recommends that The Thin Red Line be played loud. I took him up on that and he wasn't kidding. Everything sounded awesome from the explosions and guns to Zimmer's score. As great as the sound was I think the video transfer was even better. Everything was clear from the grass to the faces. I can't say enough good things about this film.

A++++++. A necessity for any blu-ray enthusiast.

Nice to see that getting some love on Blu now. I always felt it got kinda lost and was under appreciated because it came out about the same time as Saving Private Ryan.

Rented both & really enjoyed them.

Yep this BR is my prized possession of my collection as the picture and sound is as good as it gets in hidef. And the best thing about is I found it at BB for $14.99 last year which I'm pretty sure was a a store screw up because I've never seen it anywhere else for less than $35.

The only thing I wish there was in the supplements is all the deleted scenes because apparently the entire film is 5 hours long but was obviously heavily chopped. Brody (who supposedly is the main character but for some reason ended up with only a handful of scenes) Penn and Clooney has much bigger parts. Hopefully one day we get the full version although I'm sure it would really drag on at times as some Malick movies tend to do.

Actually even though I have the 1st 2 movies it might be worth getting at that price if they remixed the sound on Begins. The TrueHD track on that movie I always found to be lacking. It has a low bit rate and the rear activity was sparse and when you compare it to TDK it's just not very immersive.

Blame this thread for me picking up the Criterion Collection BR of Thin Red Line today. Probably won't watch it for a few days, but I'm excited. Never seen the movie so it should be good.

I took advantage of Best Buy's Upgrade & Save program again today. Traded in 5 more DVDs. I also had a $15 reward certificate to use as well. Saved $40 after the coupons and reward certificate. Gotta love savings.
