I had bought seasons 1-4 in August but hadn't got around to watching it. I actually just started watching it a few weeks ago and I can say that I am addicted to the show. I'm halfway through season 4 already and took a break today to go buy season 5 when I heard about the half off deal at best buy. The show is very intense and well worth the purchase.

I was a late bloomer to The Wire and forgot how quickly I watched Seasons 1-4-(1&2 purchased DVDs, 3 DVD rental, 4 ON DEMAND).

In my case it's generally "being in the mood for the greatest show ever" and well, nothing else. I've gone through entire seasons in a day. At this point, I legitimately have seasons 1 and 4 memorized.

How come you haven't memorized season 5 as well? Is it because you haven't watched it as much or because it's not as good as the previous seasons? I hope it's not the latter.

I've got episodes 4, 9, and the finale down close, but the rest is going to have to wait.

Season 5 is worse than the first 4. You really need a few views to really begin to appreciate it. At first, I only liked it, but after sleeping on it for a few months, it's a lot better than the first time I saw it.

Episode 9 of season 5 is the best episode outside of the season 5 finale of The Shield that I've ever seen. Best episode in the show by far, and those are high words from me. I take my Wire more seriously than you want to know.

Following season 4 was impossible, but they did a pretty damn good job.

I'm really enjoying Snoop and Chris...both very ruthless. Is Snoop's accent a legit Baltimore accent because she sounds different than the other characters?

Yes. Both Snoop and Spider (and their accents) are homegrown Bmore (as is the principal). Hopefully you won't ever have to visit Baltimore to see the natives for yourself.

I go 4>1>2>3>5 (though I think my >s are in the opposite direction as yours.

I've touched on it before, but the chemistry between Chris and Marlo is absolutely amazing.

Though if you haven't finished season 5, lock yourself in your room and finish that ****. Absolutely avoid any website unless you want the ending of the show ruined many times over.

My only problem with season 5. I shouldn't even say problem but about half-way through it. I was already making correct assumptions about how it would play out. I posted one of those in the season 5 thread way back when.

I called Mike becoming the "new" Omar. (not the gay part) I may not have said it here but I also saw Sydnor taking McNulty's place.

I really think that they could've developed the finish and used all 13 episodes. But Season 5 was a great way to finish off fantastic show the never got the award recognition that it deserved.

The funny thing was HBO gave authorization for 12 episodes to be filmed but the director said he only wanted to do 10.
