Then that scene came up and it showed that he actually respected him, as well as that side of him that made him always take care of his people.

Season 4 is even better than 3..probably the best of the series, Fresh
For some reason I never really got that feeling from him. Avon never seemed like one to snatch a life without a thought process and him taking the life of a washed solider AFTER serving 14 years would have been Stringer level of poor decisions. Plus, I felt like Avon always respected when somebody spoke honestly and openly with him.

Cutty was the antithesis of Stringer this season. He was open, honest, and once he realized the game don't change he decided to change himself. Stringer was a man without a country or code. Him trying to get Slim Charles to assassinate Clay Davis was everything about him in one scene.

We'll see about season 4, though. Season 3 is about as perfect as any TV series has gotten for me.

Also, I love how the show is basically mapped out from Herc & Carver's conversation in the first episode by following the **** flow up hill. Starting the season with the majors being **** on by chain of command and then end the season with COC being **** on by the politicians was a great pivot to setup season 4.

Good point but I never believed AB would do that. I still crack up when I hear Avon's "walking tall" comment.

Everybody was stand up compared to Stringer

It was the first thought, thinking he didn't appreciate the notion of trying to get out, especially after botching a job in a war they were in.

...but Avon was always the cool one from the very beginning

Found out today about the famous "my name is my name" scene.

Don't wanna ruin it for Fresh or anything though

But yeah the number Marlo gave his lawyer in the show, you can actually call it and get the audio of the scene

              Ok cool.

I follow is some Hector and JD Williams aka Bodie on Twitter. I think Bodie is easier to get to and he'll definitely chat with you on a bunch of different topics....ones he usually brings up though.

Last I heard of Kima she was arrested for selling or doing coke not long ago... Anyone heard how she doing lately?

I haven't seen anything since July. Not a good look at all for my girl, though.

Something else I've been thinking about after finishing season 3 is how similar Marlo and Avon are. Definitely feel there's mutual respect there.

Into season 5 now and finished Transitions (episode 4):
                    Spoiler

Still not really jiving with McNulty's actions this season. It seems a little absurd compared to everything else the show has done and covered.

Anyway, season 4 was great. Not sure I will ever give it the edge over Season 3, but those two are definitely the tops. The last couple of episodes felt a little rushed as I felt the kids were pushed into their conclusions fairly early, but considering what Michael is up to in season 5 I understand where they needed him to be by the end of 4.

So many damn amazing parts and scenes. Stats getting juked everywhere. Carcetti depending on stats for other things (education) when telling the police he "doesn't care about" stats. So great. Everybody complaining about their own place and wishing they worked for a "real" whatever.

                    It all matters.

mcnulty was a worm by all accounts, so i was glad to see him disappointed that someone else got stringer, which left him empty and realizing he was a bum

Season 5 has a lot of great moments, but the whole serial killer thing does not jive with me (and other random things). I understand what they went for and how they built it, but it just feels a little "out there" in context with the rest of the show.

Either way - it doesn't diminish the fact that McNulty sitting in the conference room with his mirror self trying to suss out "the fake" was gold.

Not sure how I feel about Omar "flying the coop."

I think Season 5 was rushed, probably almost didn't get made and they kinda threw it together. I recall reading how many times they tried to cancel the show and they had to fight to get a closure which was season 5.

Too bad they never won an award, but people know the real deal til this very day.

I understand that, but the story and decisions they went with are definite headscratchers in the context of the show to me.

Like, I understand Omar walks the fine line between man and legend. Clearly, him jumping out of the window from the 5th story or whatever is definitely on the "legend" side of things, but it just felt a little cartoonish.
