The way Avon and Slim looked at each other and start laughing gets me every time. After seeing these dudes move hundreds of thousands of dollars around for 3 seasons, seeing Cutty go through a damn business plan for 10k is hilarious.

There's never been a show better casted than The Wire. Other than Stringer, I can't unsee these characters when the actors/actresses are in other projects.

        Done.

        Season 5

        Spoiler

Very rarely do I finish a show and think they need to bring this back, and I don't really want them to, but it says a lot about how well they developed these characters that you really wonder how they turned out. No way Marlo can stay away, you have to wonder how Avon acts when he gets out. Ten favorite characters, top to bottom, Avon, Snoop, Bunk, Bodie, Wee-Bey, Prop Joe, Marlo, Bunny, Chris, Slim Charles. The way Avon asks Cutty "well what the hell else are you gonna do, you've never been anything else" and you can see a part of asking for himself, is just next level, Wood Harris killed this role. I now will be conflicted as to whether he's Julius or Avon, something I never thought would happen.

Now to read All the Pieces Matter.

I did kinda feel bad how they did Lil Chris like that but I understood why it was done.

One of my favorite scenes in addition to Cutty calling it quits which highlight the same three great characters... I might have posted it in this thread a while back.

I was trying to figure out how they didn't win any Emmys but damn, West Wing, Sopranos, Lost Season 1, I'm not into 24 so I don't get that one... House and Heroes nominated over Season 4 smh. Throw the whole academy away.

I wish they had picked this for a prequel movie instead of the Sopranos, I'd much rather see the rise of Avon, Stringer, and Wee-Bey than young Tony.

UVA has a class on The Wire tho [emoji102], might have to look into that.

They still should have had multiple Emmy wins. Except for The Sopranos are any of those other shows in The Wire's class?

IIRC, the show really wasnt that popular during its original run. Almost got cancelled after S1. The change in the primary characters uhhhh demographics in S2 saved the show lol. I believe S2 was its highest rated year.

That last scene with Duke and Mike still ****s me up, man. Duke trying to reminisce about last summer and Mike not even remembering it illustrated just how much Mike really wasn't a kid anymore. Mike was 14 or 15 at most.

It's wild, man. That kid never stood a chance. Imagine being like 12 and coming home to all your **** being in the street, your parents AWOL and your choices are homelessness or moving in with your homie that's a drug hit man. Kid had absolutely no shot at a decent life.
