Re: Official Hip Hop/Rap Music Thread

X was my guy......I didn’t go thru anywhere near of what he did in his life. But when I listened to his tracks/stories, I could feel it, like it was me going thru it.

    That’s a legendary story teller.

This passing hits me extra hard.....

Rest in peace to Dark Man X. Hip - Hop has lost another legend and it is heartbreaking to see him pass this way.

Damn man, I’m heartbroken. X was the artist to hype me up before a football or basketball game. He was my warrior voice.

One of the most unique voices and flows in hip hop is gone. RIP Big Dog

                    RIP to Black Rob, man.

Held Bad Boy and Diddy down for a long time. Had one of their last real Hip - Hop classics, before it became a lot more Pop and Diddy was the main (read: only) attraction on the label.

A small ray of sunshine peaking out of some the darkness hitting our hip hop community:

Conway the Machine - La Maquina

*Good album and one of the first albums of 2021 that I listened through all the way with no skips.

“Back on top, punchin’ the clock, clutchin’ sanity
I got more cribs than Habitat for Humanity
**** profound, we propagatin’ more profanity
Paid off collections from recollections of calamity
The **** pop off, I learned to duck under the canopy
Til it cool off, they murked a ***** right in front of me
Told him to come off his chain for tryna floss
Died over a cross just like the start of Christianity”

The whole album is good, but he went crazy on Punchin the clock. Cole drop, Nicki-Drake-Wayne drop, hopefully big names come out again, Kendrick still hasn’t answered the Bat signal.

I literally had My Life on repeat the entire day yesterday. Cole and 21 killed their verses and Morray on the hook was masterful. What a cut.
