Jay-Z calling out rappers who "Keep It Hood"

“I’m keeping it hood!” The sentiment is echoed throughout the hip hop community as some sort of badge of honor. But Bed-Stuy native Jay-Z says that he is growing tired of the statement as he apparently feels that no one would voluntarily give up their current status in the game to return to the block.

“I think it's more important for me to be in touch with who I am than in touch with the streets, per se,” Jay said in a recent interview. “Being in touch with the streets, keeping it real, that's become a lie and a cliche.”

“I'm not hanging on the corner in the Bed-Stuy. I hate it when rappers say, 'I'm keeping it hood.' I'm like, 'Why? What do you mean? No one's there by choice! You're in the hood, by choice?!'"

New Luda Gangsta Grillz was OK. Didn't blow me out of my mind like I thought it would but it did have a couple tracks where I had to hit the repeat button at least 4 times lol

Overall, I'd give it a strong 3.9 out of 5.

I agree. After how good his Pre-Release Therapy mixtape was, I expected this one to be just as good, if not better. I was a little letdown.

I'm killin it too. It's a good mixtape, but I agree with them in that it's not as good as Pre-Release Therapy. I still bump that one. I think I pretty much agree with the score, though I'd just round it out to a 4, for a ni ce even number.

As lame as Mike Jones was (and I can admit that now after bumping that album), that "Still Tippin" beat is still hot.

BTW, listening to this mixtape reminded me of something. I think Shawnna is the best female rapper period. I don't know if she writes all of her rhymes or what, but when she rhymes, more often than not I am loving it. What female do you guys think takes the crown.
